The driver, 19-year-old Marcus Dunbar, did not stop and continued driving northbound. Police escalated the situation into a chase. As the vehicle approached the intersection with Bath Edie Road, Dunbar crossed into the southbound lanes, driving against oncoming traffic. The pursuing officer did not follow Dunbar into the wrong lanes. Approximately one mile later, near Etterlee Road, the Mercury Sable collided head-on with a southbound truck. The impact caused the Sable to catch fire, engulfing the vehicle in flames. All three occupants—Dunbar and his passengers, 15-year-old Barry Fields Jr. and 13-year-old Casey Fields—were pronounced dead at the scene. Police came upon a man and woman at Forest Road 400 after a report of domestic violence. Cibola county deputies stated that a woman fled and later told them that Albert Morgan had choked her. When officers tried to talk to Morgan, he was hostile and pulled a gun, eventually aiming it at police who shot and killed him.

On August 12, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Orlando Police initiated a high-speed pursuit of a white Lexus. The police chase reached speeds exceeding 60 mph through downtown Orlando, violating department pursuit policies. The fleeing vehicle ran a red light at West Anderson Street and Parramore Avenue, colliding with a Honda Civic driven by 28-year-old Delmy "Patty" Alvarez. The driver of the Lexus was fatally injured in the crash and later pronounced dead at the scene. Delmy Alvarez, a mother of two, also died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident. The driver of the Lexus was not publicly identified by police.

Police aggressively pursued the vehicle through downtown Orlando, reaching speeds exceeding 60 mph. The police violated pursuit policy during this chase. At the intersection of West Anderson Street and Parramore Avenue, the fleeing Lexus with police in pursuit ran a red light, colliding with a Honda Civic driven by 28-year-old Delmy "Patty" Alvarez. Alvarez was fatally injured in the crash, while the driver of the Lexus also died from the collision. The Orlando Police Department did not follow pursuit policy during the chase, which contributed to this fatal incident. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the crash.

A man was driving toward Vermillion and police were notified that he was suicidal, had a rifle and maybe be in violation of a protection order. Police found and traffic stopped him. When police approached his car, he reportedly shot himself and died.

On August 12, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a weapon at a residence in the 600 block of Watersonway Circle on the city's south side. Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots from within the home.

Inside, officers discovered two teenage girls, each with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University; one was in stable condition, while the other sustained critical injuries.

In the backyard, officers found 41-year-old Ashley Lynn Nolan and her husband, 43-year-old Officer Thomas Joseph Nolan, both deceased from gunshot wounds. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Investigators determined that Officer Nolan fatally shot his wife, Ashley, and wounded their two daughters before dying by suicide.

Officer Nolan began his law enforcement career in 2003 as a reserve deputy with the Marion County Sheriff's Office. He transitioned to IMPD as a reserve officer following departmental consolidation and resigned from his position on May 15, 2024, after 21 years of service.

Ashley Nolan was remembered as a loving mother, daughter, and sister, known for her kindness and devotion to her family.

Alexandria PD arrived at the Alexandria Overlook apartments, for a man with a gun call. Police found the man and shot and killed him after shouting to drop the gun.

On August 12, 2024, around 7:00 p.m., Warner Robins Police officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the 200 block of North 6th Street. Police alleged that Mikhal Anthony Concepcion fired at the officers and into a nearby home, attempting to force entry. Police shot an unknown number of bullets at Concepcion. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation, with findings to be submitted to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Family members described Concepcion as a beloved father, son, grandson, nephew, and uncle, noting that he was approaching his 21st birthday in October. They believe he struggled with untreated depression and obvious mental health issues.

On August 12, 2024, San Bernardino deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle being ridden by Albert William Park, who fled the traffic stop. The pursuit ended when Park abandoned the motorcycle on North Sierra Way and fled to a nearby residential porch. Deputies followed Park and shot him, alleging he had a gun. George Edward Mulligan Junior was involved in what was initially reported as a domestic dispute. Police arrived and found a woman in the backyard. They allege that someone fired shots toward them from inside the home. No one was hit. Police moved the woman to safety. A perimeter was established and back up arrived in the form of front Royal Police Department, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Winchester Police Department, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office, establishing a giant police presence and very tense SWAT situation onto the home where the man, and two children were still inside under massive police pressure. Police fired gas canisters inside of the residence while the children were still inside. Police then brought out the children sometime after the CS gas assault. A drone was sent inside of the house and found the man dead from suicide under police duress.

On August 11, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., 85-year-old Sarah Jackson of Steens, Mississippi, was involved in a fatal collision on Highway 12 near Billy Kidd Road, northeast of Columbus. Lowndes County Sheriff's Deputy Rachel Basher, 28, was responding to a disturbance call with her vehicle's lights and siren activated. Both vehicles were traveling west on Highway 12 when Deputy Basher's vehicle collided with the left side of Jackson's vehicle. Jackson was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where she died from her injuries. Deputy Basher sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
