On 01/22/2025, four-year-old Rosalie Martin was a patient sitting in a dentist’s chair at a pediatric dentist’s office when a bullet entered and killed herb by gunfire from a police officer’s bullet during a police shooting in St. Clair Township, Ohio. Police officers were involved in a shootout. She was struck by a bullet while inside the building and was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. In January 2026, a special prosecutor announced that the officer involved in the shooting would not face criminal charges, ruling the use of force justified under Ohio law.

Overnight, deputies used a drone to deliver a cell phone and food to Hernandez, attempting to negotiate his surrender. Despite these efforts, Hernandez remained uncooperative. On January 15, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Hernandez fired at responding law enforcement officers. Police opened fire and killed him at the location. Four deputies were placed on administrative leave.

On 01/15/2025, officers attempted to stop a black Kia Sportage for a traffic violation near the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge. The driver, 18-year-old Jalen Anthony Young, and the passenger, believed to be 17-year-old Nyair Raymond, fled on foot. Young was apprehended, but Raymond escaped and has been missing since. Three days later, Raymond's phone was found near the bridge, and his jacket was discovered submerged in the Anacostia River about a week and a half later. On 03/07/2025, a body matching Raymond's description was recovered from the river, but official identification is pending. His mother, Sharnell Ford, suspects foul play and is demanding access to body camera footage from the night of the chase. His body was recovered Mar 7, 2025 and positively identified Mar 19–21, 2025

On January 15, 2025, at approximately 5:07 p.m., 36-year-old inmate Mario Campbell was attacked by fellow inmates in the main exercise yard of California State Prison, Sacramento, located in Folsom, California. Prison staff intervened using chemical agents to stop the assault and transported Campbell to an external medical facility. Despite medical efforts, Campbell was pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m. Three improvised weapons were recovered from the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner has yet to officially determine the cause of death.
