On April 15, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers from the St. Louis Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the intersection of Hartford and Bent in the Tower Grove South neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 55-year-old Elizabeth Colletta deceased on the front porch of a residence. As officers approached, 50-year-old Walter Ernest Young Sr. fired shots at them from inside the home, prompting a standoff. The department's SWAT team was deployed, and after several hours of attempted negotiations, officers introduced gas into the residence. Upon entry, they found Young deceased inside. It remains unclear whether his death was self-inflicted or resulted from the exchange of gunfire with police. No officers were injured during the incident.

On April 14, 2024, Syracuse Police and Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence on Darien Drive in Salina, New York, after tracking a fleeing vehicle to the location. As officers approached, 33-year-old Christopher R. Murphy ambushed them with an AR-15-style rifle. He fatally shot Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen and Onondaga County Sheriff's Lieutenant Michael Hoosock. Officers returned fire and killed Murphy. Deputies located a vehicle linked to the incident, driven by 29-year-old Hayden Elias Brook. Brook did not stop when officers approached, and police escalated a pursuit.

Marta Prater, 49, an apparently unhoused woman with a known history of mental health issues, allegedly arrived at a property and was told to leave. Police arrived and tried to force her to take her belongings and tried to arrest her for loitering. Police shot her with a taser three times. She picked up what police describe a “homemade weapon” consisting of a pair of scissors on a rope and swung it at police, breaking a patrol car window. Police state she wore "ten layers of clothing" and they could not tase her and therefore shot and killed her. Her only weapon was the described scissors on a rope. Police gave lengthy media interviews and detailed explanations but failed to provide BWC or dashcam footage collaborating the narrative.

On April 16, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a carjacking at gunpoint was reported in Hemet, Riverside County. Murrieta Police located the stolen Toyota Camry and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled southbound on Interstate 15, initiating a high-speed pursuit. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) deployed spike strips near Gopher Canyon Road, deflating the vehicle's front tires. Despite this, the suspect continued driving until crashing near the Deer Springs Road exit in Escondido. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers found the male driver deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect's identity has not been released. On April 13, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Durand Police Officer Kurt Moffitt conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 700 block of South Oak Street in Durand. The officer found the driver, 43-year-old Daniel Silver, to have an outstanding warrant. Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathon Kirby arrived on the scene to assist. The officer claimed that Silver attempted to flee and "drove his vehicle aggressively toward Deputy Kirby," striking him. In response, Deputy Kirby shot and killed him.

On April 12, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Warren Police Department officers responded to a domestic violence call at a residence on Garbor Drive near Ryan Road and 11 Mile. The 911 caller reported that 18-year-old Hussein Al-Raji was assaulting family members and had not slept for four days. Officers approached the residence and observed Al-Raji emerging from the garage armed with a 9mm Glock handgun. Body camera footage shows Al-Raji taking no action to lower the weapon and pointing it at police. Officers fired 11 rounds, striking Al-Raji three times. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At approximately 7:50 p.m. on April 12, 2024, a Cottonwood police officer initiated a traffic stop of Donovan Jelicich’s vehicle in the 500 block of South 12th Street in Cottonwood. Jelicich had been driving without headlights and tailgating another vehicle. After a brief interaction where Jelicich provided his license and failed to remain in his vehicle, he exited his car and engaged in a physical altercation with the officer. The officer deployed a Taser, but the altercation escalated, and Jelicich was shot during the struggle. The officer was injured and treated at Verde Valley Medical Center, while Jelicich was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center. He died from his injuries on April 19, 2024. The officer involved was placed on administrative leave as per protocol. Dash cam and body cam footage of the incident have been released for review.

On April 12, 2024, at approximately 11:05 p.m., Deputy Alex Zanini of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a white pickup truck near Merrell Road and Harper Road in Groveland for an unreadable license plate and a malfunctioning brake light. The vehicle was occupied by two individuals, including 42-year-old Shawn Karr of Coulterville.

Deputy Zanini then informed Karr that he would be detained for officer safety during a search of the truck. Karr exited the vehicle, fled on foot, and was pursued by Deputy Zanini. A physical struggle ensued, during which Karr allegedly produced a firearm and threatened the deputy.

Fearing for his safety, Deputy Zanini discharged his weapon, fatally striking Karr. Two loaded firearms and approximately 13 grams of methamphetamine were recovered from Karr. No other injuries were reported. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, and the California Department of Justice are conducting investigations into the incident.

Albuquerque PD tried to arrest a man for open warrants in the Walmart parking lot at 2266 Wyoming Boulevard NE. On April 11, 2024, Alexander C. Grunke, a 38-year-old man wanted for alleged involvement in a homicide in a neighboring county, was located by law enforcement in Dane County, Iowa. Grunke fled from officers in a vehicle before it was disabled.

On April 10, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Deputies Phelan "PJ" Montgomery and Hunter Givens of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office arrived at 1839 Tulip Tree Lane in Sullivan, Indiana, to discuss specifics of a protective order served earlier that day to 54-year-old resident Cameron Lee Atkins for a reported domestic violence incident the previous evening.

During the encounter, Atkins allegedly pointed a gun at the deputies. Both deputies opened fire, striking Atkins. He was pronounced dead at his home.

Sullivan County Sheriff Jason Bobbitt requested the Indiana State Police to conduct an independent investigation into the incident. Upon completion, the investigation's findings will be submitted to the Sullivan County Prosecutor's Office for review.
