On October 10, 2024, at approximately 12:51 p.m., Hamtramck police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by two women. The driver fled from officers at a high rate of speed, disregarded a traffic light, and drove through the intersection of Conant and East McNichols in Detroit, where she crashed into a vehicle occupied by MD Sujon Miah, 37, of Sterling Heights, and his father, MD Nur Miah, 73, of Warren. Both were killed in the crash.
