Valencia deputies were called to the 100 block of Ladera Road in Los Lunas for a man arguing with neighbors and firing a gun. The officers were not able to resolve this and returned multiple times. During their last visit, they saw the quarrelsome man point guns at his neighbor, Michael Gabaldon who was allegedly defending himself on his property. Police shot and killed Gabaldon, stating he had a gun. Neighbors and his family in unison said that Gabaldon had been a “very good” person and the other neighbor was constantly threatening everyone in the neighborhood. Police were reportedly aware of this because there had allegedly been a number of similar previous incident involving this neighbor. Michael Gabaldon had been a former sheriff's deputy.

On September 28, 2024, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a man contacted the Lone Tree Police Department, reporting that he had fired a shot inside his apartment and was experiencing suicidal thoughts. Officers from the Lone Tree Police Department, along with deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and a mental health clinician, responded to the scene in the 12000 block of Roosevelt Lane in unincorporated Douglas County.

Upon arrival, crisis negotiators engaged the man via phone, urging him to exit the apartment peacefully. Approximately an hour later, around 7:20 p.m., the man emerged from the residence armed with a handgun, discharged a round into the air, and then pointed the weapon at the deputies. In response, several deputies fired at the man, who was subsequently transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.

On September 27, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Smyrna Police Department officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at Adventure Outdoors, located at 2500 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Georgia. Upon arrival, an employee informed officers that a man was inside the business. Officers located 21-year-old Emilio Aguilar of Marietta inside the store and instructed him to exit. Once outside, as officers attempted to place Aguilar into custody, he broke free and began firing a rifle slung around his neck, striking two Smyrna officers in the leg. Three Cobb County police officers, who had arrived on the scene to assist, returned fire, fatally wounding Aguilar. The two injured Smyrna officers were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.

Goose Creek PD received a call from the Joint Base Charleston Naval Weapons Station reporting that a man had barricaded himself inside a residence with a 1-month-old infant. On 09/21/2024, 31-year-old Melvin Omar Chavez-Paz was shot and killed by Montgomery County deputies responding to a disturbance call in the 3400 block of Janet Road in Wheaton-Glenmont, Maryland. Deputies encountered Chavez-Paz holding a grill fork. His family stated that he was intoxicated and arguing with a neighbor prior to police arrival.

Michael Dean Geiger was pursued by Ohio State Patrol at high speed until he lost control of his GMC Yukon, causing it to crash. Geiger was ejected from the SUV and was pronounced dead. Police did not disclose. why they chased him.
