Folks, near South Fulton Parkway and Stonewall Tell Road in Union City, Georgia. Officer Minor, who was on unpaid administrative leave due to a prior drug-related arrest, claimed he felt threatened during the ride. He alleged that Folks spoke in a foreign language via the car's Bluetooth system and ignored his requests to stop the vehicle. Believing he was being kidnapped and suspecting an attempt to recruit him into a "gay fraternity," Minor stated that when Folks reached toward the back seat, he discharged his firearm three times, striking Folks in the head. On May 10, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officer was servicing a mobile camera unit near the intersection of Market and 14th Streets in downtown St. Louis. The officer observed an armed man chasing and shooting at another individual. Intervening in the situation, the officer fatally shot the armed man. The individual who was being pursued sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The identities of both deceased individuals have not been publicly disclosed. The officer involved is a 42-year-old with 18 years of service. In response to the incident, city officials cleared a nearby homeless encampment near City Hall, citing safety concerns.
