Hall exited her vehicle armed with a gun and did not comply with repeated verbal commands to drop the weapon. Deputies and the officer fired their weapons, striking Hall. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. No officers were injured during the incident. On May 22, 2025, around 7:55 p.m., Houston police used aerial surveillance to follow a stolen Dodge Charger from the 11200 block of South Gessner Road to West Bellfort Avenue. The vehicle struck a U-turning vehicle in the 7500 block of West Bellfort, ejecting the bystander driver, a man in his 40s, who died at the hospital. The fleeing vehicle then crashed into a light pole, causing a fire. While firefighters attempted to pull him from the vehicle, the man fatally shot himself.

On May 16, 2025, Dawson County deputies and Gothenburg Police officers responded to a report of a man attempting to forcibly enter a woman's camper at the Blue Heron Campground in Gothenburg, Nebraska. They contacted 55-year-old Lane B. Dishman of Elwood in his camper. During the encounter, Dishman struck a Gothenburg Police officer in the head, requiring medical attention for the officer. A woman reported that a man, identified as 65-year-old Robert Edward Davis, had cut her with a knife. Plano police responded around 9:15 p.m. to a 911 call reporting a woman had been shot at a residence on Ridgewood Circle. Officers arrived and encountered Juan Jose Rivera-Robles, 37, who opened fire on them. Police opened fire and killed him. A woman with gunshot wounds was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Las Vegas police found a deceased person in a large container behind a business on the 100 block of North 3rd Street after reports of a foul odor on 05/21/2025. The investigation led to 63-year-old Joseph Del Rivo. Later that day, Utah Highway Patrol escalated a high-speed chase of Del Rivo on Interstate 70, reaching speeds of 140 mph. After spike strips were deployed, he attempted to evade a second set, lost control, and was ejected during a rollover crash. He died at the scene. The deceased person found in the container was identified as Matthew Kelemen, 56, a freelance reporter who wrote for Las Vegas magazine who had been Del Rivo’s roommate.

A 62-year-old man failed to appear in court for multiple felony charges and a warrant was issued. Just after midnight, a deputy observed him driving recklessly. After the driver pulled over near Newark Drive and Kettle Moraine Road, deputies ordered him to exit. He did not respond. They approached and found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The East Central Wisconsin Sheriff’s Investigative Team is reviewing the case.

On May 21, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Green Township Police responded to a report of a possibly suicidal individual violating a protection order at a residence in the 3100 block of Ebenezer Road, near Oak Hills High School. The individual, identified as 41-year-old Chet Smith, had access to firearms and refused to exit the home. The Hamilton County SWAT team was deployed. After several hours, SWAT officers entered the residence and found Smith deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Green Township Police Criminal Investigative Section is conducting an ongoing investigation.

On May 21, 2025, the Tennessee Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at high speed on Interstate 40 near mile marker 350. The driver did not stop. Officers escalated a pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

On May 21, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., Philadelphia police stopped a man on foot near Mutter and Somerset Streets in the Fairhill neighborhood. During the encounter, a struggle occurred. Police say the man pulled a handgun from his bag, and it discharged. Two officers then opened fire, striking the man in the torso. On May 21, 2025, around 12:15 a.m., Richland County deputies responded to reports of two individuals breaking into vehicles at an apartment complex on Hunt Club Road. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 20-year-old Degeorge Darby and another man. Both fled on foot. During the pursuit, Darby fired two shots at Deputy Richard Jeffcoat and his K-9 partner, Kiro, striking Kiro in the ear. Deputy Jeffcoat returned fire, hitting Darby multiple times. Darby was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. K-9 Kiro received medical treatment and is expected to recover. The firearm used by Darby was reported stolen earlier in May.

On 05/20/2025, Sacramento police responded to a report of a man making threats with a firearm in a residential area of northeast Sacramento. The man locked himself inside a home, resulting in a prolonged standoff. After hours of attempted negotiation, he exited the home holding a firearm. Officers opened fire and killed him at the scene. His identity has not been released.

At approximately 10:39 a.m. on May 20, 2025, corrections officers were sent to an emergency in a housing unit at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. Officers found 43-year-old Brandon T. McQuillen unresponsive. Despite resuscitation efforts by jail staff and emergency responders, McQuillen was pronounced dead at 11:11 a.m. He had been in custody since March. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death to be suicide.
