On the evening of May 13, 2025, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) officers responded to reports of a man firing a gun and yelling in the 7700 block of Lenox Avenue. Upon arrival, officers encountered 44-year-old Calixto Beavenutti, who was armed and non-compliant. Beavenutti retreated into his residence, prompting the deployment of the SWAT team.
Throughout the ensuing hours-long standoff, Beavenutti exited and re-entered his home multiple times, brandishing his firearm and disregarding officers' commands. At one point, he fired a shot, though it remains unclear if it was directed at law enforcement. The situation escalated when Beavenutti attempted to enter a neighboring home while still armed. Despite repeated warnings to stop and drop his weapon, he continued his approach.
