Kenneth Edward Bailey, the rapper known as Young Scooter, died on March 28, 2025—his 39th birthday—following a police pursuit in southeast Atlanta. Atlanta Police responded to a report of gunfire and a domestic dispute on William Nye Drive Southeast. As officers arrived, two men ran from the back of the residence. Off-duty Chickamauga Police Officer Charles "Chuck" Dunn, a longtime family friend present at the scene, attempted to intervene and was critically injured during the confrontation. Payne then died by suicide at the scene. Officer Dunn was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 13, 2025.
