Authorities said deputies attempted to take him into custody after he allegedly raised a fist toward a paramedic. During the encounter, Deputy Tyler May deployed his Taser multiple times while deputies restrained Walker.
After Walker was handcuffed, deputies observed that he was in medical distress. Emergency personnel began treatment at the scene before transporting him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On 07/27/2023, 54-year-old Nidia Nieves was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on Interstate 87 near the Exit 16/17 interchange in Cornwall. According to New York State Police, an off-duty New York City Police Department officer driving a Honda CR-V crossed the center median into the northbound lanes and struck Nieves' motorcycle head-on. Nieves was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda was identified as off-duty NYPD Officer Kevin Richmond. He was transported to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. New York State Police investigated the crash.
Nieves' family and friends remembered her as a devoted mother and grandmother who was passionate about riding motorcycles and was active in the local riding community. They organized memorial rides in her honor following her death.

On 07/26/2023, Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies went to the Timbers at Tualatin Apartments, also known as the Forest Rim Apartment complex, to serve a civil eviction notice on 34-year-old Kristafer James Graves. Deputies arrived at approximately 9:30 a.m. After repeated attempts to contact Graves, authorities said gunfire erupted from inside the apartment at about 10:20 a.m. Deputy Charles Dozé was struck multiple times during the exchange.
Additional law enforcement officers, including the Beaverton Police Department SWAT team, responded to the scene. During the confrontation, officers shot and killed Graves. Deputy Dozé survived after being shot seven times but suffered catastrophic injuries, including the loss of his left eye, multiple teeth, and extensive facial trauma. He underwent numerous surgeries and a lengthy rehabilitation.
The Washington County Major Crimes Team investigated the shooting. In January 2024, the Washington County District Attorney concluded that the officers' use of deadly force was legally justified under Oregon law and declined to file criminal charges.

Officer Lockwood was responding to a report of a stolen vehicle at the time of the collision. The Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad investigated the crash. Just after 12:30 a.m., officers responded to an armed robbery on Northeast 82nd Avenue where police say Michael A. Story, 53, of Portland had taken a woman hostage and fled with her. Dispatch later received a call from the woman. She said she had escaped and was taken to a hospital for evaluation and had been sexually assaulted.
The vehicle was again seen near Northeast Marine Drive and Northeast Blue Lake Road and police tried to stop it. Police escalated a chase that ended near NE 141st Avenue and NE Sandy Boulevard after police used spike strips to deflate the car’s tires. Story ran away while allegedly firing shots at the officers. While securing the area, officers reported hearing more gunshots going off. A multi-agency team assisted with the search and a member of the air support unit said they found a heat source in a parking lot that appeared to be a person lying down. A drone was sent and discovered Story injured on the ground. He died of suicide under police duress.

On 07/25/2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Franklin Police Department officers responded to the Artessa Apartments in the Cool Springs area of Franklin for a welfare check after a woman identifying herself as Steven Lawrence Tropia's former girlfriend reported that he was threatening to harm himself and was armed with a handgun. Officers spoke with Tropia from outside the apartment for an extended period in an effort to persuade him to surrender peacefully.
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tropia eventually exited the apartment carrying a handgun. Police stated that he did not comply with repeated commands to drop the weapon and that officers opened fire during the confrontation. Tropia was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducted the independent investigation into the shooting. In January 2024, the Williamson County District Attorney concluded that the officers' use of deadly force was legally justified under Tennessee law and declined to file criminal charges.

LAPD officers were sent to a strip mall at Reseda Boulevard and Saticoy Street at 11:09 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of a man armed with a knife. Police arrived and saw a man continuing to actively stab another man on the ground. Police fired beanbags and then shot and killed him.
This was the second killing for officer Bracamontes this year. The first person he killed was Oscar Leon Sanchez in January 2023.

On 07/24/2023, a Hancock County Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to stop 52-year-old Allan A. Van Reijsen, a local animal control officer, on Flye Point Road in Brooklin. During the traffic stop, Van Reijsen displayed a firearm and remained inside his vehicle, prompting deputies to establish a perimeter and request additional law enforcement resources, including a tactical team.
Officers negotiated with Van Reijsen for approximately seven hours while he remained barricaded inside his vehicle. During the standoff, a single gunshot was heard from inside the vehicle. After officers approached, they found Van Reijsen dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers fired their weapons during the incident.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit investigated the incident. Authorities later confirmed that Van Reijsen died by suicide.

On 07/23/2023, Columbus Division of Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle they believed had been stolen. The driver continued driving while police pursued. During the pursuit, the driver entered the parking lot of an apartment complex, where the vehicle struck 4-year-old Jarsi Hafini as he rode a tricycle.
Jarsi was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital with critical injuries and died two days later. The driver fled on foot after the crash but was quickly apprehended by officers. He was subsequently charged in connection with the pursuit and Jarsi's death.
Jarsi's death prompted widespread mourning in the Columbus community. Family members remembered him as a joyful young boy whose life was cut short while playing outside his home.

On 07/23/2023, Seward Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle that they reported was being driven erratically on the Seward Highway. The driver continued driving while police pursued. Alaska State Troopers joined the pursuit as the vehicle traveled northbound on the highway.
During the pursuit, the vehicle left the roadway and crashed, ejecting both the driver and 58-year-old passenger Gregory Green. Green sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver survived with serious injuries and was later charged in connection with the pursuit and the fatal crash.
The Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol investigated the collision.

On 07/23/2023, Tallahassee Police identified 40-year-old Antirio Brown in connection with the fatal shooting of two women at the Mission Hills Apartments in Tallahassee. Florida Highway Patrol located Brown's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop on Interstate 75. Brown continued driving while law enforcement pursued him into Alachua County. Deputies with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office assisted by deploying stop sticks and a PIT maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a stop on Interstate 75 between NW 39th Avenue and Newberry Road.
Law enforcement established a perimeter and activated the Alachua County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team. During the standoff, Brown livestreamed on Facebook and stated that he intended to kill himself. After officers were unable to establish contact, SWAT approached the vehicle and found Brown dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers fired their weapons. Neither the Florida Highway Patrol nor the Alachua County Sheriff's Office publicly identified the involved officers.

The pursuit continued at high speed until the vehicle crashed into the front yard of a residence near the intersection of Hazeldine Avenue and Broadway Boulevard SE, where it rolled over. One of the two occupants, a male passenger, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver survived the crash.
The deceased man's identity was not publicly released. Public reporting did not establish whether the occupants were connected to the earlier incident that prompted the pursuit. Albuquerque Police did not publicly identify the pursuing officers.

Montgomery County deputies received a call that someone had stabbed 4 people. Police arrived in the 4300 block of Harvard Street and found him with a knife. He was shot and killed by Officer Justin Lee.

The same officer Justin Lee, a MAGA Trump supporter, was suspended without pay in October of 2023 for his involvement in the J6 attack on the Capitol. A release from the D.C. United States attorney’s office said that Lee, who is from Rockville, Md., was facing “felony offenses of civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers” as well as several other misdemeanor offenses. He was facing a total of seven counts, according to his federal indictment.

It is unclear why he was allowed back on the beat after storming the Capitol but because he was sent back to work undisciplined, Franklin Castro Ordonez died.

Sullivan County deputies initiated a chase for a vehicle full of teenagers. Police felt the car was stolen. As police escalated the chase, the driver was approaching the intersection, entered the right turn lane and attempted to turn right onto Old US 41. The vehicle was traveling too fast to negotiate the right turn and collided into the driver’s side of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala that was stopped at the stop sign on Old US 41 at US 41. The man whom they crashed into, Jimmy Mayall, 88, of Oaktown was killed.

On 07/21/2023, deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Investigations Unit were searching for a man wanted in connection with a recent homicide investigation. Deputies identified Manny Jesus Rodriquez near the 100 block of West 36th Street and began following him. Rodriquez ran, and deputies chased him on foot. During the pursuit, a deputy opened fire and struck him. Rodriquez died from a gunshot wound. Authorities reported that a firearm was recovered near him after the shooting. He had been a third-party motorist. Norwood was a spiritual young man who left a family and church congregation devastated at his senseless death over a dangerous police hunt of a driver guilty only of a traffic code violation.
