On 11/07/2025, the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wellbeing check at the Comfort Inn in Whitehall Township concerning a 37-year-old man from Mears. Deputies located him inside the room with visible self-inflicted injuries. One deputy retrieved medical supplies while another stayed with the subject, who then charged a deputy armed with a box cutter. The deputy fired their handgun, striking the man multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On October 26, 2025, Detroit Police officers attempted to stop a black SUV for speeding, dark window tint, and an obscured license plate near Van Dyke and 8 Mile Road. The driver did not stop. Around 10:45 p.m. on July 15, 2025, Brighton Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop for a Dodge Charger observed driving recklessly on West Grand River Avenue. The driver failed to comply and accelerated, prompting officers to escalate to a high-speed pursuit.
The chase traversed multiple residential neighborhoods, including Beaver Street, East Street, Flint Road, and Hilton Road, with speeds reported to have exceeded 70 mph at times. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens throughout the pursuit.
At one point, the Charger entered Old U.S. 23 southbound at a dangerous velocity, crossing the center line into oncoming traffic and sideswiping a vehicle, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving multiple cars. The Charger subsequently rolled over several times before coming to rest.
The sole occupant of the Dodge Charger, identified only as a male, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Other involved drivers sustained only minor injuries, with all occupants reported to have been wearing seatbelts.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., at the intersection of 11 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue, the teen driver ran a red light while being chased and collided with a vehicle operated by 28-year-old Alex Habib, who was working as an Uber driver at the time. Habib’s vehicle was struck at high speed and heavily damaged. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead from crash-related injuries.
Habib was a married father of two and a resident of Madison Heights. He had reportedly just picked up a passenger before the crash. According to statements from his widow, Habib was a hardworking husband who had no involvement with the chase and was simply caught in the path of a reckless pursuit initiated by police.

On June 27, 2025, Allen entered a branch of Mercantile Bank on State Street in Saginaw Township and demanded money from the single employee present. The chase ended at the intersection of 9 Mile Road & Van Dyke, when the Chrysler struck another car driven by a 71-year-old woman. She was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Occupants of a second struck vehicle sustained non-serious injuries. The fleeing driver abandoned the vehicle, attempted to flee on foot, but was immediately apprehended.

Officers responded to Delaware Street near State Street in Saginaw. Police allege he advanced toward them with the knife. Officers fired tasers, which were ineffective. Officers then opened fire and killed him.

Around 2:45 a.m., Buchanan Police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving in the wrong lane on Front Street. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase onto South Redbud Trail. After crossing railroad tracks, the vehicle went airborne, hit a tree, and crashed into a house near Hobart Street. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No one in the home was injured. The Michigan State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating.

On March 10, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Warren Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence in the 27000 block of Railroad Street. A woman reported that a man with a knife had left the home before officers arrived. Officers searched the area and located him near the intersection of George Merrelli Drive and Lorna Avenue. Police stated that during the encounter, the man brandished an icepick. Officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital by the Warren Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing.

On 02/21/2025, Michigan State Police troopers from the St. Ignace Post responded to a welfare check at a residence on Portage Street in Moran Township. When police arrived and made contact, the individual set the house on fire using an accelerant and then shot himself. The incident is being investigated by the Michigan State Police.

On 02/12/2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers and St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call at a residence in the 4000 block of Dove Street in Port Huron Township. Upon arrival, a 52-year-old male suspect exited the home armed with a gun and allegedly made threats, refusing to drop his weapon. A state trooper then shot the man.

On February 12, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Michigan State Police troopers and St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 4000 block of Dove Road in Port Huron Township. Family members had called 911 regarding a dispute with a 52-year-old male. Upon arrival, the man exited the residence holding a firearm and refused to comply with officers' commands to drop the weapon. A Michigan State Police trooper discharged their weapon, striking the man. The individual was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The findings will be forwarded to the Michigan Attorney General for review.

On February 2, 2025, the Farmington Public Safety Department responded to a domestic violence incident in Farmington, Michigan. A 51-year-old man had reportedly shot a 47-year-old woman and then barricaded himself inside a residence. After a standoff, officers entered the home and found the man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office assisted in the response.

A Monroe County sheriff's deputy fatally shot an individual during an alleged assault on 12/28/2024 in Exeter Township, Michigan. The incident began when the deputy responded to a report of a suspicious person on Hoffman Road in London Township. Shortly afterward, a similar report came in from Bluebush Road in Exeter Township. The deputy located the individual on Bluebush Road. The person reportedly began physically assaulting the deputy, who opened fire, killing the individual at the scene.
The deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation into the incident.

On November 8, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man waving a "gun-shaped object" near Trinity Health Grand Rapids. Officers arrived at the scene and encountered 38-year-old Henry Wymer, who allegedly pointed the object at officers. In response, three officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding Wymer. Chief Eric Winstrom indicated that Wymer had a known history of mental health issues, which were known to police. By the date of this update, police have not identified the object he was reportedly holding and it is unknown whether he was armed or not.

On November 6, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence incident in Lenawee County, where 31-year-old Jacob Austin Hikes allegedly shot his brother. Police tracked Hikes to Jackson, Michigan, and located his maroon-colored van on the 1000 block of Cooper Street.

Officers escalated a high-speed chase during which Hikes allegedly discarded pipe bombs from his vehicle. Six pipe bombs were later recovered from his van. Hikes reportedly fired multiple gunshots at pursuing officers, striking several homes and vehicles. At approximately 5:41 p.m., Jackson Police Sergeant Wesley Stanton was shot in the arm at the intersection of Van Dorn and Elizabeth Streets. Police returned fire, striking Hikes. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Stanton was treated and released.

A subsequent search of Hikes' residence in Franklin Township, Lenawee County, revealed more pipe bombs and other weapons.
