On March 10, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Warren Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence in the 27000 block of Railroad Street. A woman reported that a man with a knife had left the home before officers arrived. Officers searched the area and located him near the intersection of George Merrelli Drive and Lorna Avenue. Police stated that during the encounter, the man brandished an icepick. Officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital by the Warren Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing.

On 03/05/2025, at approximately 3:50 a.m., officers at the Monroe County Jail in Michigan discovered a 56-year-old man unresponsive in a cell. On 02/21/2025, Michigan State Police troopers from the St. Ignace Post responded to a welfare check at a residence on Portage Street in Moran Township. On November 8, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man waving a "gun-shaped object" near Trinity Health Grand Rapids. Officers arrived at the scene and encountered 38-year-old Henry Wymer, who allegedly pointed the object at officers. In response, three officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding Wymer. Chief Eric Winstrom indicated that Wymer had a known history of mental health issues, which were known to police. On November 6, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence incident in Lenawee County, where 31-year-old Jacob Austin Hikes allegedly shot his brother. On October 28, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police began pursuing 16-year-old Cortez McConer Jr. after he fled on foot following a traffic stop. He had been a passenger in a car police investigated as possibly stolen. According to the record, the Grand Rapids Police Department officers chased him on foot through a wooded area near Courtland Drive and Kies Street in Rockford, Michigan for several miles into a body of water, which authorities later confirmed was a secluded area south of downtown Rockford. Police alleged that they could not find him.

On 11/02/2024, search crews discovered McConer's body in a heavily wooded area near the water. The Kent County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death as accidental drowning.

On October 16, 2024, at approximately 12:48 p.m., officers from the Albion Department of Public Safety (ADPS) responded to a domestic disturbance in Albion. The 28-year-old male, who had an outstanding felony warrant for assault, fled the scene and was later located at his residence in Homer Township. Upon arrival, deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office observed the man entering his home around 1:14 p.m. He then fled into a nearby cornfield.

A drone and K-9 unit were deployed to search for the individual. A neighbor reported seeing him with a handgun, running between fields. A deputy soon spotted him near the intersection of 25 ½ Mile Road and R Drive South, where the individual appeared from behind a tree displaying the handgun. Within seconds, the individual fired a single shot, resulting in his death by suicide.

On September 30, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Warren Police Officer James Burke, 28, was driving a marked patrol SUV southbound on Schoenherr Road at a high rate of speed. His vehicle collided with a Dodge Durango driven by Cedric Hayden Jr., 34, and his passenger, DeJuan Pettis, 33, who were attempting to turn left onto Prospect Avenue. Both Hayden and Pettis were killed in the crash, while Officer Burke and his partner sustained injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported that the police vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed without its emergency lights or sirens activated. One witness described the police SUV as "like a missile" and estimated its speed at over 100 mph. Another neighbor's video captured the high-speed crash, with the witness stating, "If he would’ve seen the lights, he would have never turned in front of the police. So they seem like they was doing at least 80, 90 miles an hour."

His vehicle collided with a Dodge Durango driven by Cedric Hayden Jr., 34, and his passenger, DeJuan Pettis, 33, who were attempting to turn left onto Prospect Avenue. Both Hayden and Pettis were killed in the crash, while Officer Burke and his partner sustained injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported that the police vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed without its emergency lights or sirens activated. One witness described the police SUV as "like a missile" and estimated its speed at over 100 mph. The bailiff reported that the tenant, 44-year-old Sherman Lee Butler, was being aggressive. Upon entry, officers found Butler sitting on a bed, holding a box cutter to his neck. He was highly agitated and refused to leave, stating that he would only depart if officers used weapons to kill him. Despite multiple instructions to drop the box cutter, Butler remained uncooperative. Officers deployed Tasers, which failed to subdue him. Butler then advanced toward the bailiff with the box cutter, prompting the bailiff to discharge his firearm, striking Butler.
