On 11/08/2025, a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of CY Avenue collided head-on with another vehicle. One person in the second vehicle died at the hospital, and three others were injured. A Natrona County Sheriff’s Office deputy had allegedly called off the chase of a suspected impaired driver near the intersection of Wyoming Boulevard and CY Avenue. The pursued vehicle continued at high speed and struck an unoccupied Casper Police Department car.

On 09/10/2025, law enforcement attempted to serve a felony warrant on Zachary Thomas Albrecht at a home on Badger Lane in Mills. Albrecht barricaded himself inside the house. Around 1:15 p.m., he allegedly fired a single shot from within the residence. A nearly five-hour standoff ensued. Officers from Mills Police, Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, and Casper Police responded. Police never discharged firearms during the incident. At about 4:30 p.m., the standoff was resolved. Later, the coroner’s office identified Albrecht as the male who died during the standoff. It remains unclear how he died; no law enforcement gunfire is reported to have struck him. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations is overseeing further inquiry.

On 07/28/2025, Cody Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 2600 block of West Avenue in Cody, Wyoming. The driver continued, and police escalated a pursuit eastbound on Highway 14/16/20. The chase ended when the car broke down near mile marker 58 outside Cody. As officers made contact, one officer opened fire, fatally shooting 22-year-old Lucas James Erik Alvesteffer. The Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation is leading the review.

A 37-year-old male was shot and killed by Worland Police Department officers on 07/14/2025 after allegedly firing at them during an arrest attempt near the New River Bridge area in Worland. Officers responded to reports of the man acting erratically under the bridge. When confronted, he allegedly produced a handgun, and fired at officers. Two officers opened fire, fatally striking him. One officer sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was treated at a local hospital. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.

On 06/20/2025 at around 8:02 p.m., a Campbell County Sheriff’s deputy observed two motorcycles, including one operated by Jonathan Townsend, traveling at high speed. The deputy escalated a high-speed pursuit on Highway 450, during which Townsend’s motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in the 5300 block area. Townsend and his passenger, Amber Cisneros (44), were both killed at the scene from crash injuries. No injuries were reported among deputies or the truck driver. The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office has not released the deputy’s name.

On June 20, 2025 at approximately 8:02 p.m., a Campbell County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to initiate a pursuit of two high-speed motorcycles on Highway 14‑16 near Gillette. The deputy escalated the pursuit on Highway 450, during which Jonathan Townsend’s motorcycle, carrying passenger Amber M. Cisneros, collided with a pickup truck in the 5300 block area. Both Townsend (43) and Cisneros (44) died at the scene from crash injuries. The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating.

On April 28, 2025, around 12:36 a.m., Casper Police officers responded to a report of an armed burglary at 1623 S. McKinley Street. Upon arrival, they encountered 37-year-old Jody Renee Cobia, the homeowner who allegedly had a gun. During the encounter, police shot and killed Cobia under undisclosed circumstances in her own home. It remains undisclosed who called police and why they arrived and killed the homeowner in her own home. Court records indicate that Cobia was a legal resident of the home, having sole possession as part of a protection order granted in August. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave per department policy.

The identity of the individual who called the police has not been disclosed in the available reports. The circumstances leading to the shooting, including the nature of the reported burglary and the actions of both the officers and Cobia, are under investigation.

Incidentally, her mother, Susan L. Talafous, who had a significant background in government and law enforcement, had encountered such profound problems with Cheyenne PD that she detailed it on her LinkedIn page which is posted in the source links below. Talafous was a fed gov investigator, a prison official, who had accused Casper PD of murdering her parents over some documents. The mother died from unknown causes. Now the granddaughter was killed by the same Casper PD.

On March 12, 2025, Uinta County Sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals attempted to serve felony warrants on a man in Evanston. The man ran when officers arrived, leading to a brief foot chase. He entered a local business, and the occupant inside fled. A confrontation occurred between the man and law enforcement, and officers opened fire. He was transported to Evanston Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting an investigation.

Officer Nevada Krinkee investigated a trespassing call and followed a man who locked himself inside of a home. When the officer entered, he was shot and killed. The shooter fled and was found by police on 7th and Sheridan and a lengthy standoff ensued. After 30 hours, the man allegedly came out of the home with a weapon and was shot and killed.

Adonis Lee Little Dog, was in a vehicle that police say fired multiple gunshots that struck a car, houses and apartments when they chased him at 100, placed stop sticks until the car crashed, rolled and Little Dog died.No officers were charged.

On April 28, 2023, Thermopolis officer Mike Mascorro claims that he investigated drug use from another incident and time and place and in the process, he illegally entered the home of Buck Laramore without a warrant or probable cause, as established later.

Laramore saw an intruder in his home and picked up a .45 and shot and injured intruder Mascorro. Mascorro shot and killed Laramore in his own home after the unlawful entry of the residence. Officer Mascorro was treated for his injuries, cleared medically to return to work but remains off duty with full pay. He was cleared by a Special Prosecutor on the basis of self-defense despite the fact this took place inside of someone else's home the officer had broken into. His PD found no grounds for which to terminate him. The officer continues to be off work on payroll.

Natrona County deputies arrived at a vehicle crash on 03/08/2023 where they found passenger Wayne Kenneth Sanchez who told them that he had ingested an eight-ball of an unknown drug. Police initially brought him Banner Wyoming Medical Center which observed him to be shaking uncontrollably, was unable to speak intelligibly and was "complaining of not being able to move" but inexplicably, medical staff did not treat him and after a mere 20-minute observation period, he was released medically and sent back to the Natrona County Detention Center where he promptly died from an untreated drug overdose which had been known throughout the event but had been left untreated. Sanchez was not driving a vehicle while intoxicated and was not accused of having committed any crimes other than being criminalized for drug ingestion he himself readily admitted as reason for arrest, according to available data.

Gillette PD received a call from a resident who claimed a man was making violent threats against other individuals in the residence and was refusing to leave. Police claim the person had an edged weapon. Police fired beanbag rounds at him. He defensively retreated further into the residence. On November 3, 2021, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper stopped a Chrysler van on I-80 near Green River. A second trooper arrived, and after speaking with the driver, the individual jumped back into the van and fled. Troopers pursued the vehicle at speeds exceeding 120 mph. The pursuit ended when the van collided with a commercial belly dump truck, killing the driver.

On May 6, 2021, at approximately 3:54 a.m., officers from the Casper Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle. As officers approached, the driver exited the vehicle, and the passenger moved into the driver's seat and allegedly attempted to flee. One officer contacted the driver, while the other officer tried to stop the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle entered I-25, heading into oncoming traffic lanes. The officer, still inside the vehicle with the driver, continued to order the driver to stop. At this point, the officer shot and killed the driver, reportedly stopping the vehicle along the side of the Interstate.

On March 29, 2021, troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle that was already being pursued. Despite the attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Josiah Griffith, fled from the trooper. The vehicle entered Blairtown Connection Road before coming to a stop on 5th Avenue West. The vehicle then moved forward again, went down an embankment, and came to a stop. When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered Griffith dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On March 12, 2021, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a trooper from the Wyoming Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle. The driver fled, driving north on I-25 at excessive speeds and failing to stop. Several miles north of Cheyenne, the driver crossed into the opposite lanes of travel and collided with a southbound commercial tractor-trailer. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was killed in the crash.
