On June 19, 2025 at approximately 7:20 p.m., a Phoenix Police Department officer was traveling northbound on Cave Creek Road when a collision occurred at the intersection with Pinnacle Peak Road. Erik Sosteno Yrigollen was driving westbound and ran a red light, striking the passenger side of the marked police Tahoe. Yrigollen was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died. The officer received non-life-threatening injuries and was also evaluated at the hospital. Phoenix PD detectives, along with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Maricopa County Medical Examiner, are conducting the investigation.

On 06/11/2025 at approximately 6:04 p.m., Gilbert Police Department officers responded to a welfare check at the intersection of Lindsay Road and Guadalupe Road after receiving reports of a man slumped over inside a vehicle. When officers approached, the man, identified as 24-year-old Jacob Allen Rose, became alert and produced a firearm. Two officers then opened fire, striking Rose. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. near 87th Avenue and Pershing Avenue. According to police reports, a woman pushing a stroller with her baby was approached by Cardon, who attempted to abduct the child. The woman contacted her husband via FaceTime, and he, along with a neighbor, pursued Cardon into a cul-de-sac. When officers arrived, an altercation ensued, during which an officer shot Cardon. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cardon's sister, April Cardon, stated that he had been struggling with mental health issues and alcoholism. She mentioned that he had recently been released from a hospital and had a history of seeking help through rehab and behavioral health services. April expressed that while her brother's actions were wrong, she believes the situation could have been de-escalated without resulting in his death.

On June 4, Arizona Department of Public Safety officers and Gila County deputies pursued a 34-year-old man connected to two separate drive-by shootings in Phoenix. Officers used spike strips on State Route 87 to stop the vehicle, and Gila County deputies executed a PIT maneuver, forcing it off the highway. The man stepped out holding a handgun and ignored repeated orders to drop it. A deputy opened fire, striking and killing him on the roadside. The man died at the scene.

On 06/03/2025, a Flagstaff police officer in a marked vehicle struck 22-year-old Derek Blakely, who had entered the roadway on a skateboard at Milton Road and Route 66. Blakely sustained severe injuries and died days later. The case remains under investigation. His family described him as a bright, energetic young man.

On May 28, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., deputies from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence near Gary Road and Skyline Drive in San Tan Valley. Upon arrival, a confrontation occurred between the deputies and 20-year-old Kyle Webster. During the encounter, a single deputy opened fire and fatally shot Webster. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy’s name has not been disclosed. No body camera or other video footage has been publicly released. The Arizona Department of Public Safety is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.

On May 18, 2025, Case Taylor Chrouser, 38, was fatally shot by Mohave County Sheriff's Office SWAT deputies during a standoff in Lake Havasu City when police were attempting to arrest Chrouser on multiple charges. After deploying gas, SWAT officers entered the residence and found Chrouser barricaded in a bathroom. Using a camera, they observed him pointing a firearm at the door. When Chrouser opened the door and began firing at the officers, three deputies opened fire, striking him. Chrouser died in his home. The Kingman Police Department is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.

On May 9, 2025, Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence on Ty Street in Kingman, Arizona, involving a man reportedly pouring gasoline inside the home and armed with a weapon. The man, identified as 56-year-old Jack Lagerwey, refused to exit the house, prompting the activation of SWAT teams from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office and Bullhead City Police Department. After several hours of negotiation, Lagerwey emerged from the residence and allegedly pointed a weapon at SWAT officers. On April 28, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Oro Valley Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens. Upon arrival, officers found the main gate closed and locked. Inside the facility, they observed a pickup truck with its windows shattered. Officers encountered 31-year-old Alfred Lopez-Minor, a former employee of the Garden Bistro, an independently operated restaurant within the park. Lopez-Minor fired multiple shots in the direction of the officers. As Lopez-Minor exited the east side of the building, he allegedly then brought his hands together in a manner perceived as an imminent threat, prompting officers to fire multiple shots. Despite life-saving efforts, Lopez-Minor died at the scene. A handgun was recovered near his body.The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team (PRCIT) is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.
