On October 29, 2025, 34-year-old Cameron Oberlin was killed during a police pursuit and standoff with Mesa Police Department officers near Sossaman Road and Ray Road in Mesa, Arizona. On 09/20/2025, Officer Jacob Buckwald was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Butler Avenue in Flagstaff. The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Buckwald was hospitalized with minor injuries and later released.

On July 17, 2025, a Pinal County Sheriff's sergeant initiated a traffic stop near Gantzel Road and Pecan Creek Drive around 7:51 p.m. Melissa Mills did not comply and fled in her vehicle, prompting deputies to escalate the situation into a high-speed pursuit through San Tan Valley.
During the chase, Mills allegedly rammed the sergeant’s patrol vehicle, causing significant damage and injuries to the deputy who sustained non-life-threatening facial lacerations from shattered glass. The pursuit continued until Mills’ vehicle crashed near the intersection of Gantzel Road and Combs Road.
Upon exiting the crashed vehicle, Mills reportedly retrieved a handgun from the dashboard and fired at pursuing deputies. Deputies returned fire, fatally striking Mills.

On July 3, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a 65-year-old man arrived at the Jerome Town Hall parking lot and requested a welfare check on himself. He placed a handgun on his dashboard while dispatch remained in contact and SWAT was called to assist. The man shot himself at around 4:27 p.m. It remains unclear why the gun was initially put down and then became accessible again. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Jerome Police are investigating.
