The driver, identified as 35-year-old Michael Simpson of Cleves, Ohio, exited the vehicle and refused to comply with officers' commands, leading to a physical altercation.Witnesses reported that Simpson held a gun to his own head while walking toward the Amazon Fulfillment Center parking lot. Despite officers' repeated commands to drop the weapon, Simpson continued toward the facility. As he approached the parking lot, two Boone County deputies fired their weapons, striking Simpson. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, where he was pronounced dead.

Begel was responding to “an EMS call” in the Newburg area but did not have her emergency lights or sirens activated. Dashcam footage and witness statements indicate that Begel was speeding and weaving through traffic prior to the collision. The exact speed has not been disclosed, but LMPD confirmed she was exceeding the speed limit. Briscoe was pronounced dead at the scene. Mayfield PD, the Graves County Sheriff’s Office and SWAT attempted to arrest a man wanted for incest and child rape in Tennessee. The man had communicated to police that he planned to kill himself. Police located him in a motel and tried to arrest him. A struggle ensued and he fled back to the motel room. Police escalated a standoff and more law enforcement agencies arrived. The man finally opened the door and exited with a gun pointed at police. Police shot and killed him.
