On March 27, 2025, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a call for assistance from the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office regarding a disturbance at a mobile home park on 2nd Street in Warsaw, Kentucky. Upon arrival, officers encountered 54-year-old James E. Walter, who was reportedly firing a gun into the air outside his residence. To ensure the safety of residents, the mobile home park was evacuated. Walter continued to discharge his firearm inside his home and made verbal threats toward law enforcement officers. Despite attempts to deescalate the situation through negotiation, Walter opened his door and displayed a firearm, prompting members of the KSP Special Response Team to engage him, resulting in fatal injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is conducting an ongoing investigation into the shooting.

On 03/18/2025, around 9:00 p.m., deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Vanceburg Police Department responded to reports of a domestic violence incident involving gunfire on Little Cabin Creek Road near KY 57 in Tollesboro, Kentucky. Upon arrival, they encountered 49-year-old Keith Truesdell, who was armed with a firearm. Truesdell allegedly fired at the officers. Officers opened fire and killed Truesdell. In the early hours of March 17, 2025, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office responded to a request from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office regarding a man involved in a shooting incident in Marshall County. Jedidiah S. Skinner, 30, of Smithland, Kentucky, was located by a Lyon County deputy at Huck's Travel Center on US-62 in Kuttawa. On March 10, 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Kentucky State Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Jermaine Terrell Jackson Jr., 21, near mile marker 42 on Interstate 24. Jackson did not stop, prompting a high-speed chase that continued into Trigg County and ended when Jackson crashed his vehicle near mile marker 65, close to the Cadiz exit.After the crash, he exited the vehicle and ran, firing toward officers and striking a Trigg County deputy. Three deputies returned fire, killing Jackson at the scene. The injured deputy was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

On 03/04/2025, Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a domestic violence call at a residence on the 4600 block of West Market Street. A woman reported being assaulted before the man retreated into a nearby home. Officers attempted to make contact but heard a gunshot. SWAT was deployed, and a standoff ensued. After hours of no response, a drone was sent into the residence, revealing the man dead from a gunshot. LMPD claims no officers fired their weapons. The LMPD Public Integrity Unit is investigating.

On March 1, 2025, at approximately 8:16 a.m., corrections staff at the Fayette County Detention Center in Lexington, Kentucky, discovered 27-year-old Alicia Meredith Marie Ropp unresponsive in a cell. Immediate attempts to revive her were made by YesCare medical staff, and the Lexington Fire Department; however, these efforts were unsuccessful, and Ropp was pronounced dead at the jail by the Fayette County Coroner at 10:00 a.m. Ropp had been incarcerated since February 25, 2025, on charges including probation violation, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, and failure to register a motor vehicle. The Lexington Police Department and the coroner's office are conducting investigations into the cause and manner of her death, as is standard procedure in in-custody fatalities.Additionally, the detention center will complete an internal review of the incident.

On December 23, 2024, at approximately 11:54 p.m., officers from the London Police Department in Kentucky attempted to execute a search warrant at a residence on Vanzant Road in Laurel County. The warrant was related to an investigation into stolen lawn equipment, specifically a weed eater reportedly taken from the garage of Laurel County Judge/Executive David Westerfield.

According to dispatch audio, officers were directed to 489 Vanzant Road; however, they proceeded to 511 Vanzant Road, the home of 61-year-old Douglas Harless. Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door and Harless opened the door with a gun. Police opened fire, killing him. Police then realized that they were at the wrong address. Their search warrant was for a neighbor instead. London PD abolished bodycams in 2023 and there is no video.

Kathleen Fresard, 71, was driving north on US 127 when an Owen County deputy, Frank Blackwell, responded to an emergency with lights and sirens.
