On November 10, 2025, at about 3:45 p.m., Kentucky State Police received a call that a man was firing a weapon in a threatening manner at his home. The 37-year-old man, Terry Carney Jr., left in his truck, rammed a deputy’s cruiser while the deputy attempted to stop him, and fled. Officers pursued until his truck ran off the road in the 400 block of Woodlawn Road. He exited the truck, opened fire on the officers, and officers returned fire. He died at the scene.

On 09/09/2025, Bracken County Sheriff’s deputies went to a home on East Augusta-Chatham Road in Brooksville to perform a welfare check on Justin Gillespie, 34. A deputy was speaking with Gillespie on the front porch when Gillespie ran inside the house. Deputies chased after him to the back door. As he was trying to exit through the back door, police engaged him in an altercation, and a deputy discharged his agency-issued weapon, striking Gillespie. EMS attempted life-saving measures, but Gillespie died at the scene. Kentucky State Police are investigating the shooting.

On 03/18/2025, around 9:00 p.m., deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Vanceburg Police Department responded to reports of a domestic violence incident involving gunfire on Little Cabin Creek Road near KY 57 in Tollesboro, Kentucky. Upon arrival, they encountered 49-year-old Keith Truesdell, who was armed with a firearm. Truesdell allegedly fired at the officers. Officers opened fire and killed Truesdell. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident.

Jedidiah S. Skinner, 30, of Smithland, Kentucky, was located by a Lyon County deputy at Huck's Travel Center on US-62 in Kuttawa. On March 10, 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Kentucky State Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Jermaine Terrell Jackson Jr., 21, near mile marker 42 on Interstate 24. Jackson did not stop, prompting a high-speed chase that continued into Trigg County and ended when Jackson crashed his vehicle near mile marker 65, close to the Cadiz exit.After the crash, he exited the vehicle and ran, firing toward officers and striking a Trigg County deputy. Three deputies returned fire, killing Jackson at the scene. The injured deputy was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

On January 4, 2025, after a two-day manhunt, 33-year-old Austin Schepers was located by law enforcement at a residence in the 3700 block of Wheeler Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky. Schepers was the primary suspect in the shooting of Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Zach Andry during a traffic stop in West Baden Springs, Indiana, on January 3, 2025.
