On March 21, 2025, a Seat Pleasant Police Department officer attempted a traffic stop on a Genesis sedan in the 6300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway. The driver initially stopped but then fled. A “be on the lookout” alert was issued, and Prince George's County Police located the Genesis at a nearby gas station. The driver refused to stop, and officers escalated a chase. The Genesis collided with an SUV at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway and Belle Haven Drive. The SUV’s adult female driver was killed, and a juvenile passenger was injured. The fleeing driver was arrested and hospitalized in critical condition. On 03/07/2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., a District Heights police officer attempted to stop an Infiniti SUV in the 6000 block of Marlboro Pike. The driver initially stopped but then fled northbound onto Addison Road South. The officer lost sight of the vehicle and broadcasted its description. Officers from both District Heights and Capitol Heights police departments later spotted the Infiniti and attempted another stop. Moments later, the Infiniti collided with four vehicles in the 1200 block of Addison Road South. Three-year-old Zoey Rose Marie Harrison, a passenger in one of the struck vehicles, was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her mother sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Infiniti was arrested and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
