Upon arrival, officers encountered a male who was reportedly armed with a firearm.

Upon arrival, they encountered 39-year-old Daniel Holmes, who allegedly fired multiple rounds at the front door of a home before fleeing the scene. Officers, including Officer Rick Finley, located Holmes on a nearby street. Holmes reportedly opened fire on the officers, fatally shooting Officer Finley. Lieutenant Ron Pilkington arrived shortly thereafter and returned fire, fatally striking Holmes. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation into the incident.

At least one deputy discharged their firearm, striking Lima, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured during the incident.
