Amherst Police arrived at 450 Mill Avenue to arrest a man for unknown reasons. Police described him as “armed and dangerous.” Police engaged the man in a shootout and called SWAT. A lengthy militarized siege on the home ensued. A neighbor described SWAT using what may have been an armored SWAT caterpillar or other heavy equipment to tear away several windows and much of the front of the house while the residents were inside. Police arrested several people in the home for harboring a fugitive. Miller who was wanted for allegedly firing at or trying to harm a police officer was found dead inside of the home after a lengthy war-like engagement with SWAT. It is not immediately clear whether SWAT shot him or he died from suicide under police duress.

On 07/27/2024, deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate an alleged attempted carjacking in Satsuma, Florida. Witnesses reportedly identified Phillip Allen Baldwin, 31, as the person involved. Deputies located Baldwin and claimed he “reached for his waistband,” after which multiple officers fired their weapons and killed him. Baldwin died at the scene.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal self-investigation into the shooting.

On 07/27/2024, around 4:00 p.m., the Ventura County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed robbery at the Good Nite Inn on Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo. Deputies identified a likely vehicle and initiated a pursuit after the driver failed to comply with commands. During the chase, the fleeing vehicle veered onto the north shoulder of Central Avenue, west of Beardsley Road, and struck 58-year-old bicyclist Robert Eugene Pierret, who was returning home from his shift at St. John's Hospital Camarillo. Deputies immediately rendered aid, but Pierret died from his injuries. The vehicle continued fleeing and subsequently collided with another vehicle before being apprehended. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

A man had arrived in a backyard and refused to leave. Police were called and he was issued a criminal trespass and the man left. An hour later, shots were heard. Police arrived and found the same 2 women who had reported him to police shot to death in their home. Someone had made forcible entry. The Texas Department of Public Safety’s Highway Patrol, Texas Rangers, the Texas DPS Special Response Team (SRT), Texas Parks and Wildlife, the County Sheriff’s Department and State Parks Police all arrived on scene. The man had fled to and locked himself inside of a home at 203 North Arnold Street and shot and killed himself when surrounded by police.

On 07/26/2024, a male individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit that began in Hemet, California, and ended near San Marcos in San Diego County. The incident started around midnight when the individual allegedly carjacked a 2023 Toyota Camry at gunpoint in Hemet. Murrieta police officers initially spotted the stolen vehicle and pursued it as the individual fled southbound on Interstate 15. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) assumed control of the pursuit as it proceeded through the Temecula Valley into San Diego County. Officers deployed spike strips near Gopher Canyon Road, deflating the vehicle's front tires. Despite the damage, the individual continued driving until the vehicle crashed near Deer Springs Road, where he then fatally shot himself. No officers or civilians were injured during the incident.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately noon, a Saguache County Sheriff's Office deputy was driving near Crestone, Colorado, to serve legal papers. The deputy observed 40-year-old Jonathan Aaron Wood walking about a mile from the entrance of the Baca Grande Subdivision and recognized him as having active warrants, including a felony warrant in Saguache County for assault on a peace officer and a misdemeanor warrant in Mineral County for damaged property/criminal mischief.

The deputy attempted to contact Wood, who then attacked the deputy with a 4-foot metal pipe. In response, the deputy discharged his service weapon twice, striking Wood. Despite immediate life-saving measures, Wood was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy sustained minor injuries, received treatment at a local hospital, and was later released.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is assisting the Saguache County Sheriff's Office in investigating the incident. Body-worn camera footage from the deputy, activated prior to the encounter, is under review by investigators. Following standard protocol, the deputy has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

At the time of the incident, Wood was wanted for a felony warrant related to an August 11, 2023, event where he allegedly acted erratically with a four-foot wooden stick, threatened deputies, and punched one in the head. His failure to appear in court for that assault charge led to the outstanding warrant.

Killeen PD tried to traffic stop a driver for a defective headlight. The car did not stop and Killeen PD escalated a chase at high speeds that ended when the driver, Carlos Joseph Christian, crashed through several fences and died.

On 07/25/2024, Miami-Dade Police responded to a report of "shots fired" near the intersection of S.W. 5th Avenue and 3rd Street in Miami, Florida. Police stated they were informed of a man allegedly shooting into the air and toward buildings. Upon arrival, officers encountered Ramon De Jesus Blanco, 64, who they claimed was holding a gun. Police shot and killed him. Blanco died at the scene.
