On August 4, 2024, Francisco Vasquez, 57, entered the home of his ex-wife, Alondra Quinonez, on Limestone Road in Wilmington, Delaware, and shot her, killing her. On 08/05/2024, the Irvine Police Department responded to a 911 call at a residence on Whistling Swan in the Woodbridge neighborhood. A caregiver reported finding her patient, 38-year-old John Alexander Bash III, unresponsive and bloody. Officers discovered Bash, who was paralyzed and used a wheelchair, deceased from apparent stab wounds. A gold Honda minivan had crashed into the home's garage door, providing access to the man. Approximately an hour later, officers encountered 47-year-old Aaron Matthew Shindle, Bash's former caregiver, near Stonecreek South and West Yale Loop. Shindle was armed with a knife and, despite commands to drop the weapon, advanced toward an officer, prompting the officer to discharge his firearm. Shindle was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. A knife was recovered at the scene.

Greensboro PD spotted a vehicle they wanted to stop due to a previous incident and began to chase. Police state that they used containment method that caused the vehicle to crash into a police car. This may be a Grappler. The vehicle fled and crashed again, killing the driver.

On August 4, 2024, Irondale police responded to reports of a man running into traffic on Highway 78. Officers tasered and restrained Phillip Reeder. During the restraint, officers held him face down on the pavement. According to attorneys for the family, body-camera footage shows an officer kneeling on Reeder’s neck for over three minutes while he said “I can’t breathe” at least three times. Reeder died at the scene. An autopsy ruled the death a homicide, citing hypertensive heart disease, cocaine use, and physical stress during the incident. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency investigated and the Jefferson County District Attorney declined to press charges. The officers involved have not been named.

Reeder’s family has demanded the release of full body-camera footage and the names of the officers involved. They allege excessive force and say Reeder was suffering a mental health crisis when killed. Gabriel Ramirez suffered a documented mental health crisis and was suicidal according to his friends. Police say that he took a gun and hid under someone’s porch and police escalated a SWAT standoff that lasted overnight. Ramirez under pressure emerged and allegedly had a gun. Deer Park Police Department was called for a man who had been acting erratically, banging on car windows, kicking them. He was seen holding knives. When police arrived, he was lying in the middle of the intersection. Police fired tasers at him, which seemed to upset him, and he allegedly charged at the police who shot and killed him. His family said he had known mental health issues but “there is a better way” to handle mental health crises. The family feels the system failed the family.

On July 31, 2024, at approximately 11:18 p.m., Wichita Police Department officers observed a black Chevrolet Impala departing an area under investigation for drug trafficking. The vehicle displayed an altered and expired registration tag. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle pulled into the McDonald's parking lot at 545 North Hillside Street in Wichita, Kansas.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified three occupants. The backseat passenger, 29-year-old Brennan Russell, was observed making furtive movements and appeared to be concealing an object under the seat. Officers instructed Russell to exit the vehicle, informing him that he was under arrest. Russell refused to comply and resisted arrest, leading officers to request backup. An officer deployed a Taser through the open rear passenger door, but it failed to subdue Russell.

Russell then drew a firearm from his waistband and pointed it at the officer. Another officer, positioned at the rear of the vehicle, witnessed Russell's actions and observed him subsequently point the firearm at his own head. Russell discharged his weapon, inflicting a fatal gunshot wound to his head. Simultaneously, the first officer fired five rounds, striking Russell four times in the arm and torso. Officers administered CPR until EMS arrived, but Russell was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office is conducting an independent investigation into the incident. Upon completion, the findings will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for review.
