On February 2, 2025, 41-year-old Justin Segerson was found unresponsive in his cell at the Shelby County Jail located at 201 Poplar Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee. He was pronounced dead shortly after. Preliminary investigations suggest that Segerson's death may have been due to a fentanyl overdose. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
