Alice Police Department officers responded to multiple 911 calls from the Esperanza Street area. Upon arrival, officers attempted to communicate with a male resident. The man opened his curtains and pointed a 30-30 rifle at the officers. An officer opened fire, striking the man who later died at Alice Christus Spohn Hospital. On 02/17/2025, 41-year-old Jennifer Nicole McFay was found unresponsive in her single-occupancy cell at the Muscogee County Jail, located at 700 10th Street, Columbus, Georgia.
