At approximately 12:50 a.m. on May 28, 2025, a delivery driver in Manchester, New Hampshire, reported a stolen 2014 Toyota Corolla. About an hour later, a Manchester officer spotted the vehicle without headlights and attempted a stop. The driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase, which was terminated on the highway but the vehicle crashed on the Kilton Road off-ramp in Bedford. The 13-year-old driver and a 14-year-old girl passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital. The girl was seriously injured. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. The boy was a student at Southside Middle School in Manchester. Investigation ongoing.

Polk County deputies responded to reports of an erratic man at a RaceTrac station off SR 37. Timothy Schultz was chased by deputies on foot, swam across a lake known for alligators, and was reportedly bitten by an alligator. Dennis Armenta, 58, was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Bloomfield, New Mexico, just before 11 p.m. on May 26, 2025. On May 25, 2025, Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported burglary and shooting at a residence on Carolton Circle in Tampa. Upon arrival, they found that 46-year-old Rosamond Brookins had allegedly shot her adult daughter in the hand during a domestic dispute. After evacuating a roommate and a young child from the home, deputies located the injured daughter and began searching for Brookins, who had barricaded herself in a locked bedroom.
Deputies forced entry into the room and found Brookins lying on the floor with a handgun. Despite multiple commands to drop the weapon, she raised it toward the deputies. Deputy Joshua Thomas fired multiple shots, fatally wounding her. Brookins was pronounced dead at her home.

On May 22, 2025, around 7:55 p.m., Houston police used aerial surveillance to follow a stolen Dodge Charger from the 11200 block of South Gessner Road to West Bellfort Avenue. The vehicle struck a U-turning vehicle in the 7500 block of West Bellfort, ejecting the bystander driver, a man in his 40s, who died at the hospital. The fleeing vehicle then crashed into a light pole, causing a fire. While firefighters attempted to pull him from the vehicle, the man fatally shot himself.

On May 21, 2025, around noon, Coon Rapids police responded to a domestic incident at a residence on the 300 block of 111th Avenue NW. A woman reported that a man, identified as 65-year-old Robert Edward Davis, had cut her with a knife. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 20-year-old Degeorge Darby and another man. Both fled on foot. During the pursuit, Darby fired two shots at Deputy Richard Jeffcoat and his K-9 partner, Kiro, striking Kiro in the ear. Deputy Jeffcoat returned fire, hitting Darby multiple times. Darby was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. K-9 Kiro received medical treatment and is expected to recover. The firearm used by Darby was reported stolen earlier in May.

On 05/20/2025, Fort Worth Police responded around 5:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 3400 block of Creekwood Lane. Upon arrival, a male individual ran from officers on foot. During the pursuit, the man shot himself. No officers discharged their weapons. He died at the scene.

On 05/20/2025, Sacramento police responded to a report of a man making threats with a firearm in a residential area of northeast Sacramento. The man locked himself inside a home, resulting in a prolonged standoff. After hours of attempted negotiation, he exited the home holding a firearm. Officers opened fire and killed him at the scene. His identity has not been released.

At approximately 10:39 a.m. on May 20, 2025, corrections officers were sent to an emergency in a housing unit at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. Officers found 43-year-old Brandon T. McQuillen unresponsive. Despite resuscitation efforts by jail staff and emergency responders, McQuillen was pronounced dead at 11:11 a.m. He had been in custody since March. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death to be suicide.

On May 19, 2025, around 4:50 p.m., 64-year-old Timothy Beckmann was found unresponsive in his cell at Jackson County Detention Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead. Beckmann had been incarcerated since September 2024, awaiting transfer for court-ordered mental health treatment after being found incompetent to stand trial. He was charged with burglary and property damage but never transferred due to a months-long waitlist for a state psychiatric hospital. He reportedly deteriorated in jail, showing signs of physical and mental decline, including self-harm. He was 109th on the waitlist at the time of his death.

On May 19, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., detention staff at the Moore County Detention Center found 31-year-old Phylis McCrimmon unresponsive in her cell. Staff immediately initiated emergency protocols and administered aid until emergency medical services arrived. McCrimmon was transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. She had been incarcerated following an April 2025 police chase near Carthage that reached speeds up to 90 miles per hour. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into her death, as is standard protocol in such cases. The Moore County Sheriff’s Office has expressed condolences to McCrimmon’s family and loved ones.

On May 18, 2025, a Riverview Police officer pursued a stolen vehicle on Bellefontaine Road in Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri. The stolen car—carrying three juveniles and one adult—entered oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck. Two male occupants of the fleeing vehicle were killed, and two others were hospitalized. A woman in the struck vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending investigation.

On May 18, 2025, Case Taylor Chrouser, 38, was fatally shot by Mohave County Sheriff's Office SWAT deputies during a standoff in Lake Havasu City when police were attempting to arrest Chrouser on multiple charges. After deploying gas, SWAT officers entered the residence and found Chrouser barricaded in a bathroom. Using a camera, they observed him pointing a firearm at the door. When Chrouser opened the door and began firing at the officers, three deputies opened fire, striking him. Chrouser died in his home. The Kingman Police Department is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.

On 05/18/2025, Baltimore County Police responded to a 911 call reporting a mental health crisis at a residence in the 8200 block of North Boundary Road in Dundalk. Upon arrival, Officer Michael Brady proceeded to the alley behind the residence, where he encountered 43-year-old Glenn Pettie Jr. Officer Brady engaged him in a shootout under at this time undisclosed circumstances, fatally shooting Pettie. The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating the incident.
