On 03/08/2025, at approximately 1:39 a.m., a fight broke out inside the Mansion Nightclub at 3801 W. Lake St. in Stone Park, Illinois. During the altercation, a security guard discharged a firearm once, striking 21-year-old Zulma Daniela Calderon Pacheco in the face. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicate that Pacheco was not involved in the fight that led to the shooting. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death a homicide.
The security guard was taken into custody but later released. As of now, it is unknown whether charges will be filed against him. The investigation is ongoing.

On December 31, 2024, at approximately 9:34 p.m., Arthur Bankston II, a 53-year-old male from Zion, Illinois, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Lake County Jail in Waukegan. Jail medical staff responded promptly, and the Waukegan Fire Department was also called to the scene. Despite prolonged life-saving efforts, Bankston was pronounced dead. Abdallahi had been arrested on 10/26/2024 following a shooting incident near a synagogue in Chicago, where he allegedly shot a 39-year-old Jewish man and fired at responding first responders. After being severely wounded during the incident, he was hospitalized and later transferred to the jail's medical facility on 11/15/2024. On 12/02/2024, during a routine security check, jail personnel found Abdallahi unresponsive due to an apparent suicide by hanging. Life-saving measures were initiated, but he was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Chicago PD officers with the Priority Response Team tasked with pursuing robberies were on patrol at about 1:58 a.m. when they saw two people in a black Lexus and for unknown reasons believed they were armed and escalated a chase at high speeds that ended when the vehicle crashed and ejected a passenger who died.

Bystanders report that the car had crashed into an abandoned building that partially collapsed and crushed the car. Blood was reportedly seen nearby. The building was demolished the next day. Nearly 2 weeks after the crash, Chicago PD has not acknowledged the building collapse nor identified the deceased person or substantiated what they were accused of causing the fatal pursuit.

Plano PD were sent to a home in the 3800 block of Pratt Street for a “shots fired” call. Police found Russell Novak, 70, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. His son Nicolas Novak had fled the residence. Police located him and escalated a chase from Plano to Aurora including with helicopters. Police allege that Nicholas Novak stopped the vehicle, got out and pointed a gun at a deputy. A deputy and a Plano officer shot and killed him.

On 08/28/2024, Harvard Police attempted a traffic stop on Oskar Hernandez Martinez Jr. in the 1500 block of North Division Street for a stop sign violation. Martinez did not stop. Police escalated a high-speed chase through the area, pursuing the vehicle until it crashed into a pole and rolled over. The crash resulted in the death of Martinez at the scene.

On 07/28/2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Deputy [Name Not Disclosed] and Dispatcher [Name Not Disclosed] of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, both off-duty, reported discovering the body of 18-year-old Jackson Kradle along Illinois Route 78 and Lowden Road in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

On 07/06/2024, Sonya Massey, a 36-year-old Black woman, called 911 to report a suspicious individual near her home in Springfield, Illinois. Sangamon County deputies, including Sean Grayson, responded to her call. After a search around the property, they entered Massey's home, where an altercation occurred. Body camera footage reveals that Deputy Grayson pointed his gun at Massey during an interaction involving a pot of boiling water in her kitchen. Grayson fired, claiming Massey approached him with the pot. Massey was shot in the face and succumbed to her injuries at St. John’s Hospital.
