On March 22, 2025, Reno Police responded to reports of an attempted armed carjacking on Silverada Boulevard. The man, later identified as Marcus Gifford, 28, was wanted in an armed kidnapping and domestic violence case in Roseville, California. After failing to carjack the first vehicle, he allegedly forced another person to drive him to Sparks, Nevada, where he successfully carjacked a third vehicle. Nevada Highway Patrol spotted the stolen car and escalated a pursuit. The chase ended on Sutro Street in Reno when Gifford crashed into a tree. As officers attempted to take him into custody, Gifford shot himself and died at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.

On February 4, 2025, Alexander Andre Mathis was reported to be carrying a handgun near the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and Camino Al Norte. When approached by Officer Jason Roscow of the North Las Vegas Police Department, Mathis disobeyed commands to stop and opened fire, leading to a shootout. Both Mathis and Officer Roscow sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at UMC Trauma Center. A second later, he fired his gun, striking both Durham and Boudreaux. Bookman fired several more shots at Durham as he lay on the floor. Durham was pronounced dead at the scene.

On October 28, 2024, 18-year-old Lincoln Boe was found dead in his cell at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Las Vegas police were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the 1800 block of Charleston Boulevard at a fast food drive-through lane and approached the vehicle. The passenger fled on foot, was chased by police who allege that he had a gun. They shot and killed him.
