On 06/10/2021 at approximately 3:10 a.m., an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper observed a silver Chevrolet SUV traveling at speeds exceeding 110 miles per hour on Interstate 10 and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Josiah L. Byard, did not stop, and troopers escalated a pursuit with emergency lights and sirens activated. Willcox police deployed tire deflation devices near milepost 344, which the vehicle struck but continued driving with damaged tires. On 06/09/2021, at approximately 11 p.m., Officer Kevin Randolph Gilbert Jr. of the Camden County Police Department struck and killed Zandra Baez, 66, while driving a marked patrol vehicle. Baez was crossing Mt. Ephraim Avenue at Woodlyne Avenue when the collision occurred. Officer Gilbert, who was on-duty and in uniform, immediately stopped and called for assistance. As Officer Derrick Valdez attempted to speak with the woman, Leyba began driving the vehicle in reverse. Officer Valdez became caught between the open door and the vehicle as it moved, and his feet dragged along the pavement. Officer Valdez ordered Leyba to stop. Leyba continued driving. Officer Valdez fired his weapon, and Officer Anthony Martinez also fired. Leyba was struck and died from his injuries. The shooting was placed under investigation. No officers were charged.

On June 7, 2021, around 11:45 a.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred near the intersection of East 220 Road and South 500 Road, northwest of Afton, Oklahoma. On June 7, 2021, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Deputy Casey Newton of the Happy Valley Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jeremiah Lee Wright for operating a motor vehicle without license plates. Wright did not stop. Deputy Casey Newton initiated a high-speed chase up to 100 mph that ended when Wright crashed into a fence at the intersection of SE 122nd Avenue and SE Eagle Glenn Drive.

On June 5, 2021, Mark A. Sousa, 44, was seen speeding in Mount Vernon, Maine. Police could not catch him and targeted him again when they saw him hours later elsewhere driving a Volkswagen Jetta on Burns Road in Augusta. He did not stop for a traffic stop. Officers from the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office and the Mount Vernon PD escalated a chase at high speeds until he ran off the road and crashed in the woods near the intersection of Bartlett Road and Wings Mills Road in Mount Vernon. The vehicle was empty, and his body was located in a nearby field. Police state that he was ejected during the crash. The Maine State Police investigated and justified the fatal pursuit.

On 06/05/2021, a 38-year-old man driving a Honda Accord the wrong way on the 118 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley was pursued by law enforcement. The chase continued into Sherman Oaks, where the driver collided with a Subaru occupied by a bystander. The Honda’s driver sustained fatal injuries, and firefighters had to cut the roof from the car to extract him. The bystander in the Subaru survived. Authorities from both the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene.

Around 11:45 p.m., during quinceaneras and graduation parties at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Needville, an off-duty Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputy shot and killed Jose Angel Ibarra Ruiz, who was reportedly armed with a knife. The incident occurred outside the venue.

On June 5, 2021, Burgaw Police stopped Kyle Edward Shorette, 49, after observing his white truck driving erratically near South Dudley Street. Shorette stopped in the parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly grocery store at 103 South Dudley Street.

An officer approached the vehicle, gathered Shorette’s information, and returned to the patrol car. While the officer was in the patrol car, Shorette used a firearm to fatally shoot himself inside his truck.

The Burgaw Police Department confirmed the incident as a suicide.

On 06/05/2021, Green Forest police officers responded to an apartment on South Thorne Avenue after three roommates requested assistance removing Muang Tway from the residence due to a disturbance. An officer asked Tway to exit a bedroom. When the door opened, Tway was holding a knife. The officer ordered Tway to drop the knife. Tway continued moving toward the officer while holding the knife. The officer opened fire and shot Tway. Tway died from his injuries. The Carroll County prosecutor later ruled the shooting justified. No officer was charged.

On 06/05/2021, police responded to multiple reports of hit-and-run collisions involving a suspected impaired driver leaving a bar. Officers later stopped Stephen Neil Weigand and attempted to place him in handcuffs. During the encounter, Weigand pulled away from officers, returned to his vehicle, and drove off. Police chased the vehicle through multiple jurisdictions before stopping it in Griffin. After the vehicle was cornered, police stated that Weigand exited and raised a handgun in the direction of officers. Two officers opened fire and shot Weigand. He died from his injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was assigned to investigate the shooting. No officers were charged.

On June 4, 2021, police officers attempted to arrest 29-year-old Timothy Flowers in connection with a triple shooting that occurred in Sumner Park in May 2021. During the initial shooting, Flowers allegedly fired 14 shots into a vehicle at close range, injuring three people, one of whom was left paralyzed.

When police attempted to arrest Flowers, he reportedly fled and pulled out a gun, firing at officers. In response, the officers shot and killed him.
