On 11/15/2025, state police were dispatched to a home on James Street in Derry Township in response to a domestic incident involving Ryan Huinker who had reportedly fired shots from inside the residence. Officers arrived, engaged Huinker on the front porch, and issued commands for surrender. Huinker exited the home and produced a firearm. During an exchange of gunfire between Huinker and officers, Huinker was struck and died at the scene.

Junior Jean, 48, was shot and killed by a Lower Paxton Township police officer after allegedly stabbing his wife and advancing toward police with a large knife. Jean was located nearby, still armed. Around 10:16 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a 62-year-old Carbon County man at the Super 8 Hotel on Airport Road in Allentown. On 09/18/2025, around 6:20 p.m., law enforcement officers with Pennsylvania State Police, ATF, FBI, and the Beaver County Municipal Police Task Force attempted to contact 18-year-old Kendrick Curtis Jr. in the Linmar Terrace housing complex at Waugaman Street and Tyler Street. Curtis fled on foot and fired a gun toward officers. Police opened fire and struck him. He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital where he died from his injuries. No officers were injured. The Pennsylvania State Police are conducting the investigation and will present findings to the district attorney.

On 08/09/2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Oil City Police attempted a traffic stop on a Yamaha Roadstar motorcycle driven by 59-year-old Thomas W. Swearingen for a traffic violation. Police stated Swearingen continued driving eastbound on U.S. Route 62 in Cranberry Township. He lost control, traveled up an embankment, struck several trees, and came to rest in a culvert. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating.

Millcreek Township Police responded to a disturbance at The Reserve at Millcreek apartment complex. Officers encountered 36-year-old Patrick Kanonczyk, who allegedly threw a hammer at police and wielded another weapon. Officers opened fire, killing him. A full investigation is underway by the Pennsylvania State Police.

On May 11, 2025, South Whitehall Township Police responded to an incident at the Weis Markets grocery store located in the 1500 block of North Cedar Crest Boulevard. During the police response, 45-year-old Timothy D. Vanbilliard of Emmaus was involved in an undisclosed incident. He was transported to the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced dead at 2:59 p.m.
An autopsy was conducted on May 13, 2025, by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, including toxicology and microscopic studies. The incident is under joint investigation by the South Whitehall Township Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 2:46 a.m., Pittsburgh police responded to reports of a man acting erratically and walking in and out of traffic near Saw Mill Run Boulevard and Bausman Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered 29-year-old James Richard Brown Jr., who attempted to enter a police vehicle and refused commands. Officers took him to the ground and placed him in custody, observing injuries to his head and road rash. Emergency Medical Services were called to treat him. While being attended to by paramedics, Brown went into cardiac arrest and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Prior to the police encounter, Brown had exited his vehicle, leaving it running, and walked away, leading the vehicle to drift into a building. Witnesses reported that he attempted to enter a pickup truck, which drove away, dragging him toward Warrington Avenue. The Allegheny County Police Department is investigating the incident.

On April 28, 2025, Jerome Cooper, 51, allegedly shot a 32-year-old man in the abdomen during a carjacking at a Public Storage facility near G Street and East Hunting Park Avenue in Philadelphia. A 29-year-old witness reportedly exchanged gunfire with Cooper during the incident.
Cooper fled in the victim's Toyota Camry, leading police on a high-speed chase through multiple districts. During the pursuit, Cooper allegedly fired at officers, with evidence of a fired cartridge casing found on the 700 block of East Cheltenham Avenue.
The chase concluded when Cooper's vehicle crashed into a tree in a grassy median at Roosevelt Boulevard and Langdon Street in the city's Summerdale section. As Cooper exited the vehicle armed, seven officers discharged their weapons, striking him multiple times. He was transported to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 32-year-old shooting victim was hospitalized in stable condition. The involvement of the 29-year-old witness is under investigation.

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 7:34 p.m., Ambler Borough Police officers responded to a disturbance near Forrest Avenue and School Street in Ambler, Pennsylvania. They encountered 43-year-old Robert Aguilar Cholula holding a large butcher-style knife. Officers alleged that Cholula charged toward them. One officer deployed a taser, which failed to stop him. Another officer opened fire, striking Cholula. He was transported to Jefferson Abington Hospital, where he later died. The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is leading the investigation, which is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.

The driver, 43-year-old Matthew Williams of Frackville, did not stop. Police escalated a pursuit southbound on Route 61. About a quarter mile from the initial stop, near the Cressona Mall entrance, Williams rear-ended a black SUV in a turn lane, causing a multi-vehicle crash. His vehicle came to rest in the northbound lanes. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Several others were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

On April 6, 2025, around 5:00 p.m., Pottstown officers responded to a vehicle crash near Beech and North Mount Vernon Streets. The driver, 25-year-old Andrew Jackson Ecker, left on foot to his residence on Winding Road. Officers discovered a .22 caliber firearm in his vehicle. Ecker reportedly fired at officers, striking one in the shoulder. A five-hour standoff followed. When Ecker refused to surrender, officers opened fire and killed him. The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office is conducting an investigation.
