On 12/13/2025, Pennsylvania State Police assisted South Williamsport police at a home on the 700 block of Fairmont Avenue following a report of a terroristic threat. Troopers made contact with 49-year-old Michael Hughes, who was reported to have a weapon. Shots were fired during the encounter, and Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the shooting and the troopers are on administrative leave per policy.

On 12/07/2025 Pennsylvania State Police attempted to stop Cristian F Jimenez just after midnight. Police chased him and he struck two troopers as he fled. Jimenez continued driving until he lost control near 12th Street and Vultee Street where he hit a hydrant a pole and then a building. He was ejected and died from his injuries. On 11/30/2025 officers with the Philadelphia Police Department responded shortly before 4:15 a.m. to a report of a person with a gun at the 900 block of Erie Avenue. They encountered a 35-year-old woman holding a firearm to her head. The woman ignored commands to drop the weapon. One officer deployed a taser, which had no effect. The woman then fled across Erie Avenue and pointed the firearm toward police. Two officers fired, striking her multiple times. She was transported to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:42 p.m. A handgun with an obliterated serial number was recovered at the scene. No other civilians or officers were injured. The driver crashed on the 300 block of Ridge Pike. One person was killed; the others were hospitalized and died in the hospital later. The pursuit began when police attempted to stop the vehicle for alleged shoplifting. It ended when the car veered off the road and struck a fence outside a home. Three teens were killed and one critically injured.

On May 28, 2025, police responded to a 911 call about a man with a gun at a home in the 100 block of North 38th Street in South Whitehall Township. Officers encountered 73-year-old Gary J. Moyer holding what appeared to be a rifle. Despite multiple commands to drop the weapon, Moyer advanced toward officers. Less-than-lethal force was attempted but failed. Officers then opened fire, shooting him approximately six times. He was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. A note was found in his home, but its contents have not been released. The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating.

On May 21, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., Philadelphia police stopped a man on foot near Mutter and Somerset Streets in the Fairhill neighborhood. During the encounter, a struggle occurred. Police say the man pulled a handgun from his bag, and it discharged. Two officers then opened fire, striking the man in the torso. He was transported to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 6:55 p.m. Body camera footage is under review.

During these assaults, Minnear died by suicide inside the home before any direct tactical breach occurred.
