Montgomery PD stopped a juvenile. Some sort of incident occurred causing the juvenile to try to flee from the traffic stop. Police chased a vehicle that refused a traffic stop until the vehicle crashed into first a police cruiser, then another vehicle. The driver was killed. He was a juvenile and for this reason, police withheld his identity. Police were apparently aware that there were 5 young people in the vehicle from the traffic stop but did not hesitate to jeopardize their lives to chase a nervous teen driver into a fatal wreck. All 4 passengers were injured as well. Police released no more information and it is unknown whether the chase had been authorized and permissible by Maryland pursuit policies. Police specifically did not claim that the vehicle had been stolen and also made no claims that the driver had been wanted by police, suggesting that some sort of vehicle code or moving violation may have been the cause.

A Nashville officer saw a pickup truck missing a license plate and escalated a chase that ended in a crash head-on into a utility pole. The passenger Jessie Lee Knox was killed. It was his 43rd birthday and according to police, he died because of a missing license plate and being a passenger in a car with this minor violation.

A 24-year-old man was being chase by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force who tried to make an “investigatory stop” while looking for stolen cars when the man fled on foot. A vehicle hit and killed him and the vehicle fled.

The Shelby County SO tried to make a traffic stop. A vehicle drove away. Police began chasing and the vehicle made a U-turn and crashed into oncoming traffic. The driver was killed. Two people were rescued from the third-party vehicle in critical condition and their survival is unknown. Police did not say if anything reasons besides refusal of traffic stop were their reasons for the deadly chase.

Eric Fitzgerald Miller Sr. was a third party motorist on the Southfield Freeway who was killed when Detroit PD hunted a car into his path because the vehicle did not stop on command for a traffic stop.

Tecumseh PD chased a vehicle until it hit a tree and rolled over. The driver was not able to be freed for 3 hours and was found dead inside. It is unknown why police conducted this fatal chase.

South Carolina Highway Patrol chased a motorist at high speed until he ran into a Jeep and then a 2023 Lincoln driven by 85-year-old bystander/third party motorist David Rearden. Rearden died in the hospital from injuries. South Carolina State Patrol did not state why they undertook the high-risk chase.

A Hillsborough County deputy with his lights allegedly activated was driving at unknown speeds south on US-301 trying to make a traffic stop on a vehicle when a motorcycle driving northbound on US-301 when the collision occurred, killing the motorcyclist. From what little information is available so far, it was stated that the officer attempted a turn onto Ayersworth in pursuit of someone across the path of the motorcycle but more information is needed what occurred. The event was not a simple traffic collision but the result of a third-party motorist being killed in a crash with a Hillsborough deputy who was involved in another pursuit.

An off-duty Chicago officer crashed into the curb and killed Maria Tonie Schwab, a pedestrian, while the officer admittedly was driving negligently per police. Breathalyzer was apparently not done on the officer. The officer was not charged. She was cited for using her cell phone and negligent driving only. Republican Senator Kevin Cramer’s son Ian Cramer was in the process of being taken to the emergency room for acute hallucinations. He was known to be mentally ill. In the emergency room, he jumped in the driver’s seat of his sister’s car and drove away. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office chased him into Hazen, ND. A deputy had parked his vehicle on the side of the road and was placing stop sticks to stop Cramer when Cramer crashed into the empty patrol car and accidentally killed the deputy who was placing stop sticks at the time to stop the fleeing vehicle.

Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced that they chased a vehicle, escalated the hunt to 100 mph and attacked the vehicle with a PIUT maneuver which is known to be almost certainly lethal at such speeds and as expected, the car was hit by police, knocked off the road, ejecting a man and 2 women. The man died. The women were confirmed to be injured and in unknown condition. A 22-year-old man in a Lamborghini caught the attention of NYPD with a female passenger allegedly ran a red light in Inwood, NY. Police initiated a traffic stop. Apparently, the driver initially stopped but for unknown reasons drove away. Police escalated a chase and hunted the vehicle into another car, then crashing into the support pillar of the subway with 2 trains passing overhead during the crash. It is not clear whether police profiled the young man but the Lamborghini turned out to be legally rented. The only reason police mentioned as cause for the fatal chase was a traffic infraction. A 21-year-old female died inside of the flames.

Prague PD were called to a domestic violence situation, found a man who they allege “held” a knife. Police shot and killed him. There are no accusations that the man had used the knife or harmed anyone. His identity was withheld by police.

Harris County Constables chased a stolen car at high speed up a wrong-way street and predictably, the vehicle crashed and both the male driver and a female third party driver in the other vehicle died. A Dunn County deputy began a high-speed car chase around 1:30 a.m. on December 1, 2023 that began in Dunn County. The person was hunted by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office across 2 counties and many miles into another county. The vehicle being hunted at high speed until it crashed into a Wisconsin State Patrol vehicle that was “providing assistance” in the hunt. The driver who was not named died.

At least two law enforcement agencies were involved in this multi-jurisdiction fatal chase. Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the investigation and has not given a reason why this dangerous chase was undertaken at all (did the person commit any serious felonies and were they any danger to anyone?).
