On 03/18/2021, officers from the Bloomington Police Department responded around 6: 15 p.m. to a report of a man walking with a gun. They found Anton Lamont Burnes firing a handgun from a pedestrian bridge. A Bloomington officer fired his service weapon at Burnes, but it was not immediately clear whether he was struck by the gunfire. Burnes continued shooting his handgun from the bridge for the next 10 minutes, but police did not return fire. Burnes eventually climbed outside the bridge's safety fencing and shot himself, falling onto I-494 below and dying.

Arlington Police were contacted to help locate a felony suspect out of Arkansas wanted on multiple offenses, including five counts of rape and six counts of sexual indecency with a child. Around 5:22 p.m., officers located Juan Jimenez-Salas and stopped him in a parking lot. As officers approached the vehicle, he reportedly pointed a handgun at the officer on the driver's side. In response, one of the officers shot and killed him.

Daryl Lenard Jordan attempted to steal a bicycle from a bus, leading to a confrontation with the bike owner during which Jordan pulled out a gun and fired shots. He took the bike and went to a Chevron gas station, where he began shooting after an employee refused to let him inside. On 03/18/2021, around 11 a.m., two officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 7800 block of Bodkin View Drive in Pasadena following a call from a mental health facility to check on a man reported to be suicidal. Upon arrival, the officers entered the home through an unlocked door and encountered Leonard Popa holding a handgun. One of the officers then shot and killed Popa.

The pursuit was terminated at the border of Royal Oak. Royal Oak Police Department officers then spotted the same vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver, SouhibZokari, did not stop. Police continued to chase west on 11 Mile Road with speeds exceeding 90 mph untilZokari lost control of his car and crashed into a light pole on the side, killing him.

At 7:14 p.m., deputies from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed disturbance at the Surf and Sand Hotel. The caller reported that a man was battering a woman and was armed with a gun. Upon arrival, deputies found the man and the woman inside a hotel room. Deputies stated that the man was armed and refused all commands to surrender. Deputies shot and killed him.

On March 15, 2021, the Berks County Department of Emergency Services received a 911 call from a woman reporting that Stephen James Hughes was threatening her with a knife. Muhlenberg Township police responded to the home on the 700 block of Wagon Wheel Lane. After Hughes ignored verbal commands to drop the weapon, an officer fired a Taser. A second officer then opened fire, striking Hughes once in the chest. He was transported to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On March 14, 2021, Yonkers Police Department officers responded to a welfare check for Peter Kastsaridis, 50, at 11 Livingston Street in Yonkers, New York, around 10:45 a.m. Upon arrival, Kastsaridis fired at officers from inside the residence. Police returned fire, prompting Kastsaridis to barricade himself, resulting in an hours-long standoff. On 03/14/2021, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) officers responded to a call involving a family member causing a disturbance at a residence in McLaughlin, South Dakota. On 03/12/2021, police from multiple agencies responded to a report of a man and woman in a home on Gertrude Avenue in Raymond, New Hampshire, with concerns that the woman might be injured. Upon arrival, officers determined that two individuals were inside the residence and believed the woman to be in danger. On March 12, 2021, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call at 2275 Sherer Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. Benjamin Price Cotton, 24, had reportedly stabbed his father, causing non-life-threatening injuries. Upon arrival, deputies found that Cotton had locked himself inside the residence. Despite multiple attempts to negotiate his surrender, Cotton exited the house around 3:54 a.m., brandishing a knife and advancing toward officers. Officers issued multiple commands for him to drop the weapon, which he ignored, continuing to advance. In response, deputies and officers opened fire, striking Cotton, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
