On June 4 at approximately 5:56 a.m., Oklahoma City officers served a court-approved search warrant at a home on Evanbrook Terrace tied to alleged sex crimes. Jose Martinez fled out a back door armed with a pistol. Sergeant Justin Kuehn pursued him on foot into a wooded area near Southeast 59th and Bryant. Martinez dropped the pistol over a fence, then leaned down to retrieve it. Kuehn ordered him to stop; Martinez did not comply and reached for the firearm. Kuehn fired once, striking Martinez. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of the shooting, officers had been actively seeking Martinez for over a week in connection with multiple rape and forcible oral sodomy charges. Kuehn has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation. The Oklahoma City Police Department’s Critical Incident Unit and Office of Professional Standards are reviewing the shooting.

On 05/10/2025, around 1:30 a.m., Cushing police attempted a traffic stop when they noticed a firearm in the vehicle driven by Curtis Russell. Russell refused to provide identification and continued driving. Officers pursued him through Cushing and into Lincoln County. A deputy later located Russell at a rural property at East 790 Road and 3500 Road. Russell exited the vehicle, ordered the deputy to leave, and fired at him.
