The South Carolina Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on James Blevins, 24, near Moncks Corner at approximately 9:40 p.m. on November 21, 2024. After the traffic stop, Blevins fled, and police escalated a high-speed pursuit. His vehicle eventually left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole, killing him. The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 17A near U.S. Highway 52. The reason for the fatal pursuit was not disclosed by the police.

Michael Bailey, a 39-year-old man from Norfolk, Virginia, died on November 18, 2024, after fleeing from a traffic stop in Aiken, South Carolina. An Aiken County deputy initially stopped Bailey for suspicion of driving under the influence around 12:30 a.m. When the officer approached, Bailey drove off, leading to a pursuit. The chase ended when Bailey lost control of his 2017 Kia SUV on Laurens Street near Hampton Avenue and crashed into a tree. Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was injured and hospitalized

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and an autopsy is scheduled. No officers' names were released, and it's unclear if other factors contributed to the crash

Joseph Horan V, a 32-year-old white male, was killed on October 15, 2024, in Walterboro, South Carolina. Colleton County deputies and Walterboro police responded to reports of a man slashing car tires near a Ruby Tuesday restaurant at 1480 Sniders Highway. Upon arrival, Horan reportedly brandished a knife and was shot by law enforcement after allegedly advancing toward an officer. He had a history of PTSD and traumatic brain injury. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the incident​.
