Around 3:27 a.m. on April 30, 2025, deputies responded to a 911 call about a man damaging property and threatening the caller inside a residence on Palm Circle in Palm Shores. The caller locked herself in a bathroom and said the man was out of control. A deputy arrived and helped the woman escape the home. As the deputy approached the front door to make contact, the man emerged holding a knife and advanced toward him. The deputy opened fire and struck the man. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

On April 29, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Newark Police officers located an overdue U-Haul van parked in a shopping center on the 200 block of East Main Street. The vehicle had been reported as an unauthorized use vehicle after it was not returned on its due date of March 18.
When officers approached the van, the driver, identified as 22-year-old Gordon Turner of New Castle, Delaware, fled the scene, driving over a curb and striking a marked police vehicle. Officers did not pursue the vehicle.Approximately five minutes later, the U-Haul was traveling westbound on East Main Street at a high rate of speed when it struck two pedestrians who were standing next to a parked car. The van then collided with several parked vehicles before coming to a stop.
One of the pedestrians, a 24-year-old University of Delaware graduate student, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian, also a 24-year-old University of Delaware graduate student, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.Three additional individuals were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and three others sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

On April 29, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Boone County Sheriff's deputies and Florence Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a stolen semi-truck on Industrial Road near Empire Drive in Florence, Kentucky. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Michael Simpson of Cleves, Ohio, exited the vehicle and refused to comply with officers' commands, leading to a physical altercation.Witnesses reported that Simpson held a gun to his own head while walking toward the Amazon Fulfillment Center parking lot. Despite officers' repeated commands to drop the weapon, Simpson continued toward the facility. As he approached the parking lot, two Boone County deputies fired their weapons, striking Simpson. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, where he was pronounced dead.
One Florence police officer sustained minor injuries during the initial altercation. Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation into the incident. Simpson had no known affiliation with Amazon.

On April 28, 2025, around 12:36 a.m., Casper Police officers responded to a report of an armed burglary at 1623 S. McKinley Street. Upon arrival, they encountered 37-year-old Jody Renee Cobia, the homeowner who allegedly had a gun. During the encounter, police shot and killed Cobia under undisclosed circumstances in her own home. It remains undisclosed who called police and why they arrived and killed the homeowner in her own home. Court records indicate that Cobia was a legal resident of the home, having sole possession as part of a protection order granted in August. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave per department policy.

The identity of the individual who called the police has not been disclosed in the available reports. The circumstances leading to the shooting, including the nature of the reported burglary and the actions of both the officers and Cobia, are under investigation.

Incidentally, her mother, Susan L. Talafous, who had a significant background in government and law enforcement, had encountered such profound problems with Cheyenne PD that she detailed it on her LinkedIn page which is posted in the source links below. Talafous was a fed gov investigator, a prison official, who had accused Casper PD of murdering her parents over some documents. The mother died from unknown causes. Now the granddaughter was killed by the same Casper PD.

On April 28, 2025, Jerome Cooper, 51, allegedly shot a 32-year-old man in the abdomen during a carjacking at a Public Storage facility near G Street and East Hunting Park Avenue in Philadelphia. A 29-year-old witness reportedly exchanged gunfire with Cooper during the incident.
Cooper fled in the victim's Toyota Camry, leading police on a high-speed chase through multiple districts. During the pursuit, Cooper allegedly fired at officers, with evidence of a fired cartridge casing found on the 700 block of East Cheltenham Avenue.
The chase concluded when Cooper's vehicle crashed into a tree in a grassy median at Roosevelt Boulevard and Langdon Street in the city's Summerdale section. As Cooper exited the vehicle armed, seven officers discharged their weapons, striking him multiple times. He was transported to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 32-year-old shooting victim was hospitalized in stable condition. The involvement of the 29-year-old witness is under investigation.

David Knezevich, 37, was found dead in his cell at the Federal Detention Center in Miami on April 28, 2025. He was awaiting trial on federal charges related to the kidnapping and murder of his estranged wife, Ana Maria Henao Knezevich, who vanished in Madrid, Spain, on February 2, 2024. Surveillance footage from her apartment building showed a man resembling Knezevich disabling cameras and leaving with a suitcase. Authorities believe Ana was murdered, though her body has never been found. Knezevich was charged with kidnapping resulting in death, foreign domestic violence resulting in death, and foreign murder of a U.S. national. He had pleaded not guilty and was engaged in a contentious divorce involving millions in disputed assets. His death was confirmed to be suicide by his attorney. The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service have opened an investigation into his death.

Upon arrival, officers observed 60-year-old Brian Montana firing into a neighbor's residence. Montana then took cover behind parked vehicles and landscaping in the driveway, engaging in a 25-minute shootout with officers using a handgun, shotgun, and rifle. Officers returned fire, striking Montana. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A neighbor sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. At approximately 12:09 a.m. on April 27, 2025, a Virginia State Police trooper observed a motorcycle traveling over 100 mph on eastbound I-66 near Nutley Street in Fairfax County. The trooper initiated a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist drove away. Police escalated a chase to unknown speeds and stated that the trooper called off the chase “due to safety reasons,” not otherwise specified. Shortly thereafter, the fleeing motorcycle crashed into rear passenger side of an SUV, caught on fire which the trooper and then responding firefighters extinguished. Deputies from the Benzie County Sheriff's Office attempted a traffic stop on a stolen SUV linked to an assault complaint in Antrim County. The driver did not stop. Deputies escalated a westbound chase on M-115. Approximately 1.5 miles into the pursuit, at unknown speed, the SUV crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound van carrying six Charlevoix High School varsity golf team members and their coach. The fleeing driver was killed. All occupants of the van were injured and transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, with the coach airlifted via Aero-Med helicopter.

On April 26, 2025, Columbia County deputies attempted to serve a temporary protective order to James Blake Montgomery, 38, during a traffic stop on I-20 near Exit 194. Initially cooperative, Montgomery suddenly opened fire with a converted fully automatic 9mm AR pistol, fatally shooting Deputy Brandon Sikes and critically injuring Deputy Gavin White. Deputies Andrew Brown and Jared Mason returned fire. Montgomery attempted to flee in his RV but crashed into a median barrier. He was later found dead inside the RV. On April 26, 2025, the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable's Office initiated a high-speed chase when a Precinct 7 deputy first attempted to stop the driver of a white Volkswagen Tiguan traveling 90 mph without headlights. On April 26, 2025, a U-Haul box truck was chased for unknown reasons by South Carolina Highway Patrol until it veered into oncoming traffic on Meeting Street in downtown Charleston while being chased. The truck struck two pedestrians and a Mercedes sedan before colliding with a motorcycle. The motorcycle passenger, 42-year-old Shinique Toussaint-Allah, was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force injuries. Seven people were injured in total. On April 26, 2025, deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 6400 block of Emerald Dunes Drive. Upon arrival, deputies saw 20-year-old Alonzo Riser actively stabbing his father with a sword. After giving verbal commands that were not followed, a deputy opened fire, striking and killing Alonzo. His father, 52-year-old Tyrone Riser, died from stab wounds. The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave. On April 26, 2025, at approximately 7:20 a.m., detention officers conducting a routine welfare check found 35-year-old Rachel Nalley unresponsive in her cell at the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Medical staff and Oklahoma City Fire Department personnel initiated life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at 7:27 a.m. Nalley had been in custody since April 21, 2025, on charges including failure to appear, engaging in prostitution, and possession of a controlled substance. The Oklahoma County Detention Center is investigating, and the State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause of death. Her death is the sixth reported in the jail so far in 2025.

Deputies and medical staff initiated CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived at 5:20 p.m. The man was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m. He had been booked into jail the previous day on several outstanding warrants, including for firearm possession by a felon, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing law enforcement. On 04/25/2025, New York State Police attempted to stop a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck on Route 9W in Newburgh for traffic violations. The driver did not stop. Troopers escalated a high-speed chase on Route 9W, then onto State Route 32, and finally westbound on Interstate 84. Troopers claimed that they discontinued the pursuit due to speeds, and shortly after, the pickup truck collided with a tractor (without a trailer) and crashed off the shoulder of I-84. Passenger Phelipe Figueroa, 25, of Otisville, was transported to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, where he was pronounced dead.

On 04/25/2025, 64-year-old Richard Harvey Daugherty was fatally shot by law enforcement during a standoff in Okeechobee County, Florida. John Snyder, 37, was fatally shot by a Polk County Sheriff's deputy on April 25, 2025, after allegedly moving toward a deputy with a knife near a McDonald's on U.S. 92 in Lakeland. On April 25, 2025, around 3:30 p.m., Port St. Lucie Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance at Spanish Lakes Golf Village. A family member reported being assaulted by 35-year-old Alexander Taylor, who was holding a butcher knife. During the 911 call, Taylor was heard making threats about "suicide by cop," stating he intended to provoke officers into using lethal force. Upon arrival, officers observed Taylor pacing with the knife and, as they approached, he charged toward them. Officers Dillon Arena and Thomas Risco fired their weapons, striking Taylor multiple times in the chest. He was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On April 25, 2025, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Norfolk Police officers responded to a report of a disorderly person in the 800 block of East Little Creek Road. The individual, identified as 37-year-old Charlene Carey-Chavez, had reportedly been involved in an assault the previous day and had returned to the area.
Officers located Carey-Chavez in the 7600 block of Sewells Point Road. Upon contact, she produced a weapon and failed to comply with officers' commands to drop it. Officers discharged their service weapons, striking Carey-Chavez and inflicting life-threatening injuries. She was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
As a result of the investigation, Carey-Chavez was charged with assault and battery, grand larceny, and brandishing a firearm. She remains hospitalized and will be taken to Norfolk City Jail upon her release. The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.
