Washington State Police Officer Elias Huizar shot and killed his ex-wife and a teenage girl in front of their 9-year-old. The teenage girl was Angelica Santos, 17, who was his girlfriend. He had worked as a SRO officer at a school when he impregnated her, then aged 15. She bore his son who was 1 year old whom Huizar abducted after murdering his teenage girlfriend.
Even when it became known that he had raped at least 2 underage girls and one of them bore his child, he was merely fired from Yakima PD and rehired by the school where he remained, this time as substitute teacher, while not being incarcerated while awaiting his trial and living with the girl who was now 17 and their 1-year-old son.
He had been due in court for child rape for having impregnated the schoolgirl and also for raping her underage friend, when he went on a homicide spree, killing his ex-wife in front of their 9-year-old son and killing his 17-year-old live-in girlfriend. These deaths are not listed individually on this database because they occurred before police became involved in the fatal chase ending in the suicide of Huizar.
After killing his ex-wife and teenage girlfriend, Huizar fled, was chased by police and caught on the I-5 near Eugene, Oregon where he fled and ran into a commercial vehicle. When police approached the vehicle, he committed suicide under police duress. He had the 1-year-old boy he had stolen from his ex-wife with him when he died.

On 04/20/2024, Oakland Police Officer Jordan Wingate died after a prolonged battle with injuries he sustained on 08/13/2018 while responding to a suspicious person call near the Port of Oakland. Wingate was involved in a vehicle collision when his patrol SUV struck another vehicle and a parked semi truck. He was hospitalized in critical condition, underwent multiple surgeries, and was medically retired in March 2020. Wingate was born on 02/19/1995 in Walnut Creek, California, began his career as a cadet in 2013, graduated from the 176th Basic Academy in May 2017, and was named “Rookie of the Year” in 2018. He died surrounded by family after nearly six years of medical care following the crash.
