On 04/09/2026, Fannin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance in the 500 block of County Road 5012 near Leonard. A deputy arrived and Goode opened fire from a concealed position, striking the deputy’s vehicle multiple times. The deputy took cover and did not fire. Goode then shot himself and died. The deputy was injured by shattered glass and was treated.
