Officers secured warrants and attempted to take him into custody. Candler barricaded himself inside his apartment, and officers spent about 90 minutes attempting to get him to surrender. Police called in SWAT and surrounded the residence. During the standoff, officers exchanged gunfire with Candler. Officers shot and killed him.
