On March 26, 2025, at approximately 7:50 a.m., Officer Osmar Rodarte, a two-year veteran of the Marysville Police Department and U.S. Army veteran, was fatally shot during a multi-agency operation executing search warrants targeting transnational drug trafficking organizations. While serving a warrant at a residence on Kestrel Court in Olivehurst, an exchange of gunfire occurred between law enforcement and an individual inside the home. Officer Rodarte was struck and later succumbed to his injuries at Adventist Health and Rideout hospital. The suspect was also shot and pronounced dead at the scene. This incident marks the first line-of-duty death for the Marysville Police Department in over a century.

On March 19, 2025, at approximately 7:25 a.m., Suffolk County police responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Bruno Lane in Dix Hills, New York. Upon arrival, officers discovered 75-year-old John "Jack" Miller, a retired Suffolk County Police detective and longtime member of the Wyandanch Volunteer Fire Company, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigations revealed that Miller's son, 43-year-old Christopher Miller, had recently moved back into the family home following a divorce. Two days prior, Christopher was involved in a car accident and subsequent altercation, leading to his hospitalization. Unable to contact his son, John reported him missing. After being discharged, Christopher returned home, where an argument ensued between father and son. During the confrontation, Christopher allegedly retrieved a shotgun and shot his father multiple times. He then fled the scene and hid in a neighbor's shed on Seaman Neck Road. Responding officers recognized Christopher from the earlier missing person report and took him into custody. He has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently awaiting arraignment.​

Deputy Derrell Mohorn, age 39, of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, died off duty on March 19, 2025, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. On March 17, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., retired Polk County Sheriff's Sergeant Dan Cooley, 69, pulled over on Van Fleet Drive in Bartow, Florida, to remove a large tote that had fallen from his vehicle and was obstructing the center lane. While attempting to clear the debris, he was struck by a 2008 Jaguar S-type driven by 50-year-old Aaron Wells of Winter Haven. Cooley was transported to Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies reported that Wells exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech, watery eyes, and the smell of alcohol. Field sobriety tests indicated impairment, and breath tests later measured his blood alcohol content at .092 and .105, both above the legal limit of .08. An 11-year-old child was also in Wells' vehicle at the time of the incident but was not injured. Wells was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter and negligent child abuse.

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., off-duty Randolph Police Sergeant Scott Sherman was fatally struck by an MBTA commuter rail train at the Birch Street railroad crossing in Abington. Upon arrival, they found 44-year-old Michael Saye Wehdah, a Louisville Metro Corrections officer, deceased from a gunshot wound. On February 17, 2025, Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Kyle McAcy was killed while responding to a crash on Interstate 80 between Ashland and Greenwood. The collision caused the Jeep to overturn, ejecting Katz and two others. Katz succumbed to his injuries several hours later. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.

On January 29, 2025, Stow Police Department officers responded to a residence on Timber Top Drive in She had been a mother of five. , Ohio, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Benjamin Asiedu, a deputy with the Summit County Sheriff's Office, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Evidence indicated that Asiedu had shot and killed his girlfriend, Latoia Philpott, before taking his own life. The incident is under investigation.

On January 20, 2025, Shamone Duncan, a 50-year-old off-duty Cook County deputy, was shot and killed during a robbery at Aziza Restaurant and Lounge in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. While on vacation, Duncan and her partner were targeted by armed individuals. Reports indicate that the individuals attempted to rob the couple when Duncan was fatally shot. Her partner was also injured but is recovering.

On January 20, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Border Patrol Agent David "Chris" Maland conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 91 near Newport, Vermont, close to the Canadian border. During the stop, one of the vehicle's occupants opened fire, fatally wounding Agent Maland. In the exchange, one suspect was killed, and the other was injured and taken into federal custody. Agent Maland was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had served with the United States Border Patrol for nine years as a K-9 handler. He began his career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Weslaco Station in Texas and was last assigned to the Newport Station in Vermont. ​

On January 15, 2025, Navasota Police Sergeant Mark Butler initiated a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle on Highway 6 in Navasota, Texas. On January 15, 2025, Brazoria County Sheriff's Deputy Jesus "Jesse" Vargas, a 17-year veteran of the department, was fatally shot while attempting to serve an arrest warrant in southwest Houston. Deputy Vargas, who was part of the U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, was approaching 56-year-old Robert Lee Davis near a Dollar Tree store on Stella Link Road when Davis opened fire, striking Deputy Vargas in the head. Deputy Vargas was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Davis fled the scene, prompting an extensive manhunt. He was later located hiding in a dumpster by a U.S. Marshals K-9 unit. During the apprehension, Davis shot and wounded the K-9 before officers returned fire, resulting in Davis's death.

On 01/13/2025, Memphis Police Department Officer Charles H.
